Choose my Adventure: Lord of the Rings Online

Join me as I brave my way through lands unknown in an adventure dictated entirely by you, the Massively readers! Vote for everything from game played to character creation to ultimate goal and watch it unfold in a series of journals and galleries here on the site. Then, as the ultimate goal is reached, we'll do it all over again in a new game!

With our Guild Wars adventures behind us, it's now time to branch out into our next game for the Choose my Adventure series. According to your votes accumulated this week, Lord of the Rings Online will be my next game to explore, with a little help from you, the readers. You also voted to keep the format the same, so I'm happy to hear that it's been working well so far.

Now I must say, I'm certainly no stranger to either GW or LotRO (I didn't rig the polls, I promise!), but I think this can still be approached from a fresh perspective through the use of both the in-character gallery journal and the brand new character that you will help me create. So keep reading after the jump for the polls and more information to get me started in my brand new journey through Lord of the Rings Online.
As with Guild Wars, this time you will help me pick everything about my new LotRO PvE character. You'll pick my gender, race and class, while I'll choose the looks and name. I've opted to skip that vote on the ultimate goal this early because LotRO is a much more open-ended game than GW, and the ultimate goal will not become apparent until we reach the end of our time with the game.

So your votes this week will determine what type of character I make and how my new life in Middle-earth will begin. You can certainly expect me to have some fun with the in-character journal since LotR lore is really my thing and there's such an opportunity to run with it in this game.

To help make this a "fresher" experience for me, I'm going to start this character on a server other than my regular server with my main account and kinship. This adds a special challenge to my experience without the aid of my kinmates or horde of cash and items I already have in storage.

Next Wednesday I will announce the new character, their beginning story and let you know some scheduled play times in case you want to join me in a fellowship quest or two. I plan to do that more often in these games, as I think it really brings the Massively community together.
