Report: Gaming dominates iPhone app sales
We're totally surprised too, guys! With such gems as iFart, iPint and the always fun Shotgun, we were hard-pressed to think that games were a popular distraction for App store browsers. That was until Distimo (via GI.biz) unleashed its extensive report looking at iPhone users, which has determined that games are the top download on Apple's fancy schmancy phone.
The conclusion was made by looking at the overall top 15 downloads, as well as the top free downloads unique to the 3G and the 3GS models. Games made up nine of the overall top 15 and, looking at the free downloads for each hardware type, 30% were games. Due to this news, Joystiq is proud to report that it has begun work on a Where's Waldo-like unicorn-spotting game for the iPhone called Ultrastiq. Look for it in Q4 2009 Q1 2010.
