NintendoWare Weekly: Tales of Monkey Island, Phantasy Star

Welcome to Monday, a dreadful day for most, but a means for celebration for Nintendo loyalists. This week, we've got the second episode of Tales of Monkey Island and Phantasy Star on the Sega Master System, among other additions to the Wii's downloadable lineup.

DSiWare

  • Puzzle League: Express (Nintendo, 1 player, 500 DSi Points): Planet Puzzle League is the latest Nintendo title to be stripped down and offered in a bite-sized chunk on DSiWare. Just like most puzzle games, Puzzle League: Express revolves around matching blocks of the same color, with this version of the game boasting four different play modes: Endless; Clear; Score Attack; and VS COM.

WiiWare

  • Tales of Monkey Island: Episode 2 (Telltale Games, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points): In the second episode, Guybrush is being chased down by a pirate hunter while trying to combat the deadly Pox of LeChuck. It may seem like the imminent death and crazed stalker is serious business, but we assure you, it's much more lighthearted than that.

  • 3-2-1, Rattle Battle! (Tecmo, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): Tecmo unloads another minigame compilation onto Wii owners, strangely omitting multiplayer capabilities. We always thought these things were to encourage social gaming. At least you can upload your scores online! That's kinda social, right?

Virtual Console

  • Phantasy Star (Sega Master System, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): Do you really need a few sentences describing an RPG that launched one of gaming's most beloved franchises? Kinda like that one you just read.
