Star Trek Online details crew and officers

Cryptic's steady release of information regarding Star Trek Online has taught us to keep an eye out for new articles, and today's latest news didn't disappoint, offering a rundown of the crew and bridge officers, and how they'll function in gameplay.

The general crew members are the ubiquitous redshirts (yes, they can be injured or killed in battle), background workers in charge of keeping up with the myriad tasks that you and your officers simply don't have time for. They'll take care of maintenance and repair, pitch in to repel boarding parties, and generally keep you free to deal with more important things.

Bridge officers play a more important role, and unlike crew can be directly interacted with and assigned to specific stations on the ship: Science, Tactical, or Engineering. Both officers and stations are assigned ranks, and different types of ships focus more heavily on different types of stations, allowing for a very wide variety of gameplay.
