WRUP: Winter wonderland edition

Another week has passed us by, which means only one thing: another weekend of game-time is upon us! And in the depths of winter, with snow piling high outside, what better way to keep warm than by staying close to your old friend the computer? So if you, like us, are staying indoors this weekend with your favorite games for company, why not take this opportunity to chat about them? Read on to see what the Massively team is playing this weekend — and to let us know what you're up to, in-game and out!

  • Brendan Drain (@nyphur): This weekend I'll be spending most of my time shivering and sleeping. The temperatures here in Ireland have dropped to -6 celsius and parts of Scotland were colder than the north pole last night at -21. My heating is broken and I can barely coordinate my fingers, let alone play games. If I can get an electric heater working, I'll probably spend the weekend writing and maybe playing a bit of Torchlight.
  • Dan O'Halloran: Still exploring the LotRO: Mirkwood expansion. Going back and finishing up Moria and Lothlorien epic quests and also skilling up on Tailoring because I'm some kind of masochist with really deep pockets. For some reason I'm having the urge to play my Rune-keeper alt as well. ZAP!
  • Eliot Lefebvre: I'm going to be playing an obscure little game known as Dragon Age: Origins. Some of our readers might have heard of it. I'm also going to try and spend some quality time in City of Heroes over the weekend after a slightly unplanned hiatus.
  • Shawn Schuster (@SSchuster): Since my children have been off school for the last three weeks (and then a few unplanned snow days), I've been playing Free Realms with them just about every day. I'm still fascinated with how great that game is, and it's by far their favorite. I'm also playing Fallen Earth regularly, enjoying the latest graphical update quite a bit.
  • James Egan (@jamesegan): I'm still doing pretty well with trading in EVE Online and have been hunting solo in lowsec a bit in my cloaky recon ship, with a new set of Talisman implants helping me out with this. So I'm looking forward to more of these sides of the game on the weekend. On the non-MMO front I'm seeing Halo 3, ODST, and Left 4 Dead 2 in my immediate future.
  • Krystalle Voecks (@Krystalle): Since it seems like the opposite of whatever I say here is what actually tends to happen... I plan to spend the entire weekend doing house chores, and will be flatly ignoring both Star Trek Online and EverQuest II. Yes indeed, I will get no gaming in whatsoever! (Hopefully this works.)
  • Kyle Horner (@kylehorner): I'm playing "FEND OFF SICKNESS" which is the new MMO everybody is raving about. You start by fighting low level mobs of Stuffy Nose, but soon you're battling Scratchy Throat and Watery Eyes and geared up entirely in NyQuil set armor!
  • Lisa Poisso (@eMused): Playing Free Realms with my kids, after an introductory tour from Community Manager "Ambassador Pex" in preparation for an upcoming article in our MMO Family series. Launch pads FTW!
  • Rubi Bayer (@Rubi_): I've neglected LotRO this week in favor of swilling eggnog in Guild Wars (6,800 minutes drunk!), so I plan to dive back in. Gotta kill some orcs and ramp up those tailoring skills! I need to play some Kung Foo! too.
  • Tateru Nino (@taterunino): I'm with Krystalle. Seems like if I mention anything gaming-related in my plans, that's what never happens. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work the same way for business meetings, which tend to occupy much of my weekends. In this Summer heat it almost seems cruel to fire up a GPU.

So, that's what we're doing this weekend — now it's your turn. What are you playing this weekend? Tell us all about it!
