WRUP: A very merry unbirthday edition

Another weekend is upon us, and this one brings with it a birthday for one of us and an unbirthday for all of the rest! For those of you in the audience whose birthday is today, let us at Massively wish you a happy one. And for those of you who aren't having a birthday? Well, celebrating unbirthdays is fun, too, isn't it? But both birthdays and unbirthdays aside, it's still a weekend and a weekend means it's time to WRUP! For this week's WRUP we aren't just talking about what we're doing in-game this weekend — we're also diving back into the depths of the past to talk about our favorite MMO classes. (Though as usual, none of us can agree on favorite games for the week — much less favorite classes amongst the myriad of possible options!) Care to join us? Read on to see what we're playing and to contribute your own notes!

  • Brendan Drain (@nyphur): I'll be celebrating my birthday (22nd January) with a little action in EVE Online if the server can stop falling over. My favorite class in EVE Online is the Nyphur. It combines exploration, piracy, corporate leadership, trading and a little of everything else.
  • Dan O'Halloran: More Lothlorien, Mirkwood and Moria adventures in LotRO. Should hit the new level cap of 65 with my Lore-master this weekend. A few Skirmishes thrown in as well. In WoW, switching from Moonkin spec back to feral cat again and trying a few random heroics as melee DPS with my druid. Favorite MMORPG class of all time, druids in any game (EQ1, EQ2, WoW, LotRO's Lore-masters, etc). I enjoy hybrid classes that can shift their role mid-battle and adapt to new situations on the fly.
  • Eliot Lefebvre: This weekend is going to be largely squared up full of birthday stuff, since my actual birthday was in the middle of the week and my family lives all over the place. What time I do have is going to be spent in Final Fantasy XI and City of Heroes, or staring longingly at the Mass Effect 2 link on Steam and sighing wistfully. (The digital deluxe edition pre-order was a very nice gift, but that "not yet released" tag taunts at me.) As for my favorite class? Paladin. Always the paladin.
  • Shawn Schuster (@SSchuster): More Fallen Earth. More Global Agenda. More Allods Online. Less sleep. I think that sums it up. My favorite class is by far the mesmer from Guild Wars. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.
  • Kyle Horner (@kylehorner): Star Trek Online for me, but who didn't see that coming? Although, I've only really been jumping in to see what other players are up to via chat and social hubs. I really want to get further into the game again, but knowing it's all for naught once open beta ends stops me from getting too far, yet.
  • Rubi Bayer (@Rubi_): I have no birthday. Not in January, at any rate. I'll console myself with LotRO, DDO, and Guild Wars. Also a hefty dose of cookie-baking in my RL. (P.s., Hey Shawn, Guild Wars still makes mesmers, you should check them out.)
  • Krystalle Voecks (@Krystalle): After researching the Elder Scrolls MMO story the other day, I decided to take a tour of Morrowind and Oblivion again. I'll also be spending a little bit of time in Star Trek Online and perhaps I'll check in on Allods Online as well.

So, that's what we're doing this weekend — now it's your turn. What are you playing this weekend?
