Massively's developer tour of Sentinel's Fate pt. 2

Throughout the library, players will come across glowing clues that can be collected. Each clue comes with a piece of the story, and gathering all of them will allow players to deduce which Scholar Primarch killed the Erudite. After that, players must track down the right Primarch and kill them in accordance with the law. If they accused correctly, the Primarch will drop bonus loot and the players will have successfully completed the quest. If they fail, the Primarch will only drop a few pieces of loot and the quest will be failed.

According to Brett "Timetravelling" Scheinert — our developer companion — the Library's mystery is randomized every time you go in and you'll be awarded the murder weapon for a house trophy if you can correctly kill the right Primarch. The Library also features plunderable loot, so look around for furniture items you can interact with to get a few more nice things for you home.

Of note in this zone are the really neat ways you get around the library. Kill a boss and you'll get to traverse a magical staircase of books that fly out of the bookcases. It's a very dramatic way to go up a floor.

"The whole Conservatory just feels charged with magic."

The Conservatory

In our case, the best was saved for last. Our final stop on the tour was the Vasty Deep Conservatory, a mystical place where Erudites studied both plants and sea creatures.

If you like bloom, the Conservatory is the place for you. Once again, very few places in games have this beautiful, epic fantasy feeling to them. The Conservatory, much like the Tower of Serilis, is all that and more. Screenshots really do not do this place justice, as the particle effects, the water effects, and the glow of the place really make it stand out from other games. The whole Conservatory just feels charged with magic.

However, the Conservatory does have a nasty side to it. Go into it far enough and you'll find where the structure breaches into the shadow of the Void, giving the once pristine location a very sinister turn. Monsters are more aggressive in these chambers, and the whole place looks like it's been torn apart.

While the Conservatory was my favorite zone of those that were shown, it was the one zone where I found my single gripe: the layout. The Conservatory repeats its beautiful layout a few times too many, and it will give you the impression that you're going in circles down the same set of hallways. However, I find that gripe to be a small concession when paired against the artwork present in the zone.

At the end of the dungeon, sitting on her giant spring of magical water, is the zone's boss — a dragon. Didn't expect that for the ending of the zone, did ya? While we didn't get to take her on in combat, we did get to inspect her and her room. I'll warn you all right now: watch out for the water. She sits on a spring centered in a pool of water, and I can just see that causing a little bit of havoc as you fight her while swimming around.

Simply epic (and shiny new armor)

Of the zones shown to us in Sentinel's Fate, it seems "epic" is a strong theme that pervades all of them. But, hey, don't take my word for it. We have some exclusive screenshots for you from the tour in our Sentinel's Fate screenshot collection.

And, before I go, there is one more present for you guys today — a look at the new PvP armor for those who conquer the battleground arenas. Those pictures are embedded into our gallery as well in beautiful hi-resolution, so check them out in all of their skullbound glory.
