Apple releases Backup 3.2
Apple has released an update to its Backup software. The update also re-brands the Backup application as MobileMe Backup. The MobileMe Backup v3.2 update improves the reliability of backup restore and uses space more efficiently on your iDisk or local storage. Backup was originally offered to .Mac subscribers as an easy backup solution.
In 2006 when Apple introduced Time Machine, people widely assumed that Apple would abandon its much-neglected Backup app. When Apple discontinued .Mac and made the transition to MobileMe, Backup was still available to MobileMe users via a folder on their iDisk, but was never advertised as a feature on the MobileMe website. With today's re-branding and software update, it seems like Apple still feels the Backup app is still a relevant feature for its MobileMe users.
MobileMe Backup v3.2 requires a MobileMe account and Mac OS X 10.4.11, Mac OS X 10.5.8, or Mac OS X 10.6 or later.
