Saitek keeps flight simulation alive with new gear, no word on robot air hostesses

Microsoft may have axed its Flight Simulator franchise a little while back, but it appears that there are still enough virtual pilots out there to keep Mad Catz abuzz with making new apparatus. In fact, the notoriously expensive Saitek Pro Flight range will be seeing an addition of three new products in October. First we have the self-explanatory Backlit Information Panel, which could probably double as a pricey mood light if you have $149.00 / £129.99 / €149.99 to spare. Next up is the identically-priced Throttle, Pitch and Mixture System box that's supposed to replicate the controls found on the Cessna, Piper and Money Bravo light aircrafts. If these two modules fail to drain your piggy bank, you could always fork out another $199.99 / £179.99 / €199.99 for the F16 / F35-inspired, die-cast alloy Combat Rudder Pedals. Bundle these with the other Saitek hardware and you might get close to having the full cockpit.

Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals

Fully compatible with all major flight simulation titles, the Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals add comfort and realism to any pre-existing flight simulation set up. Inspired by pedal designs found in modern fighter aircraft such as the F16 or F35, the Rudder Pedals are constructed from a highly robust Di-cast alloy, providing durability and authenticity for the most demanding of aspiring flight-sim pilots. Independent left and right brake axis allows for greater accuracy and precision when performing braking maneuvers. Self-centering rudder axis works in conjunction with a user configurable dampening adjuster, allowing users to define levels of pressure required to operate rudder controls. 3-way adjustable pedal angle allows for a bespoke flying experience, while optional foot plate provides extra comfort during flight. Powerful Saitek ST software allows users to fully configure their Rudder Pedals with software of their choice. The Rudder Pedals are ideal for use with the Saitek X65-F and X52 H.O.T.A.S. Pro Flight Systems and are compatible with WindowsTM 7, VistaTM, XPTM and XP64TM.

Saitek Pro Flight Throttle, Pitch and Mixture System

Fully compatible with all major flight simulation titles and pre-existing flight simulation set ups, the Saitek Pro Flight Throttle, Pitch and Mixture System replicates the control surface found in light aircraft, such as the Cessna®, Piper® and Money Bravo®. Three durable aluminium rods allow users to accurately alter throttle, pitch and fuel mixture levels and an additional 9 fully programmable toggle switches provide a host of user defined controls during flight. Complete with mounting clamps which allow users to secure to a desk or flat surface, the Throttle, Pitch and Mixture System is compatible with WindowsTM 7, VistaTM, XPTM and XP64TM.

MSRP: $149.99 / £129.99 / €149.99

Saitek Pro Flight Backlit Information Panel

Compatible with Microsoft® Flight SimTM X and Flight SimTM 2004, the Saitek Pro Flight Backlit Information Panel provides users with clear and authentic information during flight. Supplied with over 70 individual 'command tiles' which display a wide variety of in flight commands and information, users can customize their Information Panel to display flight information relevant to their aircraft or personal preference. In addition, users can assign a choice of three colors to each or the 24 segments, allowing different command tiles to light up with different colors during flight. Command tiles not illuminated remain invisible to the naked eye, allowing aspiring flight-sim pilots to accurately access the information they need, when they need it. Standard Pro Flight mounting brackets are supplied, ensuring full compatibility with other 'Panel' products in the Saitek Pro Flight range. Complete with powerful Saitek ST software, allowing users to fully configure their Backlit Information Panel. Compatible with WindowsTM 7, VistaTM, XPTM and XP64TM.
