TomTom offers free iPhone 4 adapter for Car Kit
We still maintain that you've got better options than TomTom when it comes to iPhone GPS software, but if you pulled the trigger before giving yourself a moment to consider what you were actually doing, this here news may just interest you. In an effort to maintain compatibility with Apple's latest and greatest iPhone, TomTom is now including a simple adapter for all Car Kit orders going out on September 1st or later. If you ordered one prior to that, you can apply down in the source link for a freebie to be sent your way. Or just hack something up in the garage that looks like the insert above. Free iPhone 4 Adapter Now Available for TomTom Car Kit Owners
TomTom has designed a small, easy-to-install external adapter that will affix directly to the TomTom Car Kit for iPhone to ensure compatibility with the recently launched iPhone 4. Following extensive compatibility testing, the adapter enables TomTom App for iPhone 4 users to continue receiving a first-class navigation experience with their TomTom Car Kit.
To ensure that iPhone 4 consumers continue to receive optimal performance from their Car Kit, TomTom is making this adapter available at no cost to them. Additionally, all new TomTom Car Kits shipping after September 1, 2010 will include the adapter so users of either iPhone 3 or iPhone 4 can utilize the kit.
"At TomTom, we remain focused on meeting consumer needs through our continued product innovations, commitment to the mobile platform and support of Apple's advancement," said Tom Murray, senior vice president of market development for TomTom Inc. "We're pleased to deliver the adapter to our TomTom App for iPhone customers so they can upgrade their TomTom Car Kit without the associated costs that can sometimes occur when they upgrade their mobile device."
