WRUP: Kind of a big deal edition

Welcome to this week's WRUP, fair readers. You know us, don't you? We're kind of a big deal. People know us. We own a variety of collector's editions of games, and our web servers smell of fine mahogany. Some kind of wood. Actually, they smell more like burning wood. Somebody should probably be keeping an eye on that. The important part is, you should recognize all of us and our variety of interesting titles, several of which are conveniently floating above our heads.

All right, so we don't actually have titles floating over our heads in real life. (The technology proved impractical.) But we are a big enough deal that we've gathered together to inform everyone what we'll be playing over the weekend. And as a bonus, we shared our favorite titles from a variety of games. So take a look at our responses after the break, and let us know what you're going to be playing in the comments. Then you'll be a bigger deal, too.
Beau Hindman (@Beau_Hindman): I will playing some DCUO, plenty of a yet-to-be-named beta, more Nanovor: Evolution, Vindictus and checking in on a few games that have been neglected by me recently. (I'm looking at you Alganon, Mabinogi and Planet Calypso!)

Brendan Drain (@nyphur): I'm going to be scanning for a clear wormhole route back to safe space in EVE as I plan to evacuate some assets from our wormhole base back to empire. The number of attacks on wormhole installations has increased in recent months and I think we have a few too many eggs in our shielded space-basket. I think my favourite in-game titles would be the really random corporate titles we give each other in EVE. When you've got the "Ambassador of Funk" and the "Head of Jellybeans" in your corporation, you can accomplish anything!

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna): City of Heroes again for me — Going Rogue's lost its shine, but I'm having lots of fun in the rest of the game. So much I never got around to the last time I played! My husband and I finally picked up a PS3, so we're catching up on some console games too.

My favorite title was my old Swashbuckler title in pre-CU Star Wars Galaxies, appropriately attached to my pistoleer/fencer pirate queen. It wasn't a hard title to get, but it was just so perfect.

Eliot Lefebvre: Final Fantasy XIV. There is nothing but Final Fantasy XIV. The time it took to answer this question is time not spent on FFXIV. The only thing that could draw me away would be a free concert from They Might Be Giants... which is Saturday evening. Still.

I've always been fond of titles, but my favorite tends to depend on the character and circumstance.

Greg Waller: An unhealthy mix of WAR and LotRO for me. As for the bonus question, I think I would have to say any of the rank 12+ titles from the old honor system in WoW; only because they're no longer achievable.

Jef Reahard
:
I'll be playing some FFXIV, and continuing to wonder why some people are in such a frothing rage about it (finally something different, and — stop the presses — immersive). And yes SE paid me to say that, to the tune of one bazillion dollars and my own personal Miqo'te cosplay troupe. Once I finish collecting my payola, I'll also be finding time for some AoC/EQII.

Favorite in-game titles? Anything to do with SWG's old-school smugglers, primarily Slicer and Scoundrel.

Jeremy Stratton (@Jeremy_Stratton): My busy weekend isn't permitting me to play much. If I can make a spare hour, I'll be checking out the juice festival in Runes of Magic. If I can make two spare hours, I'll also be exploring in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. As for titles? One of my favorites is Nemesis of the Undead from RoM. It's a special title you earn by fulfilling specific — difficult — requirements. Plus it sounds pretty cool.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster): I'm torn between my level 60 captain in LotRO (who's trying to plow through Lothlorien's endless daily quests) and my 12 lore-master (a cranky old fart who cares not one whit for Shire pies and ponies prancing). So I'll be on one or the other this weekend, as well as polishing off the newbie zone in Anarchy Online. As for an in-game title, I was always partial to "the Peculiar" in whatever game I could find it.

Krystalle Voecks (@Krystalle): I'll be back in Vanguard for more Choose My Adventure fun! Aside from that, I'll be messing around in EverQuest II Extended, gaming with my weekly D&D group, and probably playing a bit of Pocket Frogs (read: Frogville) on the iPhone.

As for official titles, none spring to mind. I've got several unofficial ones from guildies, but those are more inside jokes than anything.

Patrick Mackey: Rolling around in CO a lot more. Mostly roleplaying, but I have leveled some. I'm a little sad that I've done literally all of the 1-35 content in the game now, though. I'll probably play more Borderlands, as my Siren is working on her second playthrough. I'm really sad that the fake patch notes for StarCraft II were fake. 1.1.0 is just not enough of a buff to Zerg to make me enjoy it.

My favorite in-game title was Griefer in City of Heroes (which was changed to Predator prior to the launch of i13), but since that title only existed on the test server, I will go with "Free Costume Change." It's an awesome title and I used to get tells all the time asking me how to get it.

Shawn Schuster
(@SSchuster):
This weekend, it's Vindictus and Civ 5 for me. There may also be some Fallen Earth and co-op Borderlands with my significant other, but I've been waiting for a game-filled weekend for a long time. As for my favorite in-game title, I'd have to say Legendary Defender of Ascalon in Guild Wars, just because you have to be insane to get it.

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game — and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
