Simon Pegg provides voice acting for Spare Parts

Spare Parts, EA Bright Light's XBLA/PSN platformer about lovable robots, has a bit of star power in addition to its known cuteness power. Shaun of the Dead and Star Trek actor Simon Pegg has joined the cast as "Con-rad," a computer who guides Mar-T and Chip on their search for spaceship parts. In fact, he may be the cast, since he's the only announced talent.

This means that Pegg now has the distinction of playing both Montgomery "Hello, computer" Scott and a talking computer. That has to be important somehow, right?

EA Play today announced that actor Simon Pegg will be providing the voice of supercomputer guide and companion Con-rad in Spare PartsTM, an upcoming action adventure game for Xbox LIVE® Arcade and PlayStation®Network. Best known for starring roles in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and his portrayal of Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the revamped Star Trek, Pegg will be bringing his recognizable personality to Con-rad.

Launching this winter and developed by EA Bright Light™, Spare Parts tells the story of courageous robots Mar-T and Chip, who find themselves dumped out with the trash on a strange planet. Working together in co-op mode (either local or online), and guided by Con-rad, the mechanical duo must find a way to repair an abandoned space ship and escape the planet before evil Lord Krung can dispatch his henchmen to destroy them. Searching the hostile environments for ship parts and currency, Mar-T and Chip will also collect upgradable action parts – such as Rocket Boots - to unlock new abilities that will aid them as they rescue other stranded robots, and battle countless enemies including the relentless Krofax troopers, hostile spider monkeys and even a Super Huge Mega Laser!
