Twitter client Weet for Mac now available in beta

Twitter

client Weet for iPhone (US $0.99) has been available on the App Store for a while now, but fans of the mobile interface can now give it a try on their Macs, too. MacStories has announced that Weet for Mac is available as a free "beta" download right here, giving users all the expected features of a Twitter client in a sleek, minimalist style that looks right at home on OS X. The top of the app features separate tabs for your timelines, mentions, direct messages, lists, and search/trending topics, but my favorite feature? The ability to mute certain users or hashtags, which is vital if you are trying to avoid finding out what happened on your favorite TV show before having a chance to watch it.

I gave it a workout on my Mac and it worked rather well. The interface reminded me of the way Adium looks on my machine and there didn't seem to be a way to alter the appearance yet, but maybe that will change when it comes out of beta. (No word yet on final pricing or date.) For now I will stick to the recently reviewed Kiwi 2 and my current favorite Nambu, but Weet for Mac could certainly become a big player among Twitter clients on the Mac desktop.
