WRUP: Tidings of comfort and joy edition

I have a bit of a reputation for coming up with titles that are a bit off-beat; I admit that freely. I enjoy making jokes. But this weekend I want to dispense with the usual artifice and just wish everyone a happy holiday, hopefully spent with friends and family. Relax, enjoy some good food and some presents, and if possible spend a little extra time playing your favorite game for the holiday weekend. Next week, we're back to the bizarre non sequiturs.

Of course, this is WRUP, so a few of the Massively staff members took the opportunity to let us know what they would be doing over the weekend. (The rest were likely busy in an eggnog-induced haze, so we'll let them off the hook.) They've also shared their hopes and wishes for the holidays, so click on past the break to see what the crew is up to, and let us know your weekend plans in the comments.

Beau Hindman (@Beau_Hindman): I'll be testing around 25 games for an upcoming article and will more than likely be jumping around the T.V. with the family while playing with the Kinect. What do I want for Christmas? For no child to be hungry. OK, that won't happen. How about for people to stop killing each other? Nah. Screw it, I'll settle for more innovative games like the ones I found over the last year.

Eliot Lefebvre: Saturday, as I have related elsewhere, I will be hosting the holiday at my house for the first time ever. Sunday, I will be enjoying some gifts and relaxing with Ms. Lady, possibly finding a bit of time for some City of Heroes or Final Fantasy XIV. All I really want for the holiday is to be near my family, and I'm lucky to be able to spend the day doing just that.

Jef Reahard: I'll be playing a lot of Global Agenda (yay, max level!), trying my hand at AvA, finishing up Darkfall for Choose My Adventure, and switching everything over to my post-column main character. As far as Christmas wishes go, I can't really think of one. Maybe more hours in the day?

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster): I'm probably not going to be doing as much gaming for the holiday weekend — perhaps a little Lord of the Rings Online and dabbling in WURM Online if time permits. As for what I want for Christmas, I'd be really, really happy with a snowblower. One gets sick of shoveling Michigan driveways after the sixth snowfall.

Karen Bryan (@JayeRnH): I'll be playing the game "pick up the flying wrapping paper" followed by "Christmas present Tetris in the trunk of the car." But when I can fit it in, I'll be playing EverQuest II and hopefully a little DC Universe Online beta. As for a Christmas wish, I second Shawn's wish that 2011 will be a great year for MMOs.

Shawn Schuster (@SSchuster): This weekend, I aim to spend a good chunk of time improving our booming WURM Online village and leveling my Worgen and Goblin in World of Warcraft. As for what I want for Christmas? I just want 2011 to be as epic as it promises for MMO gamers. Let's just forget 2010 ever happened, OK?

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game — and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
