One Shots: Meet in the middle
Anyone who has ever run a huge player event in an MMORPG is undoubtedly familiar with the term "herding cats." It takes a lot of people working together to get an event to go off well, but when it does, it's a great deal of fun. Lord of the Rings Online is well-known for fun player-run events, even after making the jump to a free-to-play model. Today, we have a recent example of one such event sent in to us by Storment78, who writes in:
"This screenshot is from a 'Riding of the Kinships' event this past Sunday on the Vilya server that saw over 150 riders of all levels and different kins travel the roads of Lord of the Rings Online, starting at Thorin's Gate all the way through to the gates of Moria. We had people as low as level 20 riding alongside their higher-level escorts, who were keeping them alive through the more dangerous areas. I don't think any other game has a playerbase that encourages (and even goes out of its way to help) people of all levels to participate and enjoy the different facets of this well-done game."
Do you take part in cool player-run events in your game of choice? If so, we'd love to hear all about them. Just snap some screenshots and email those in to us here at oneshots@massively.com along with your name, the name of the game, and a description of what we're seeing. Feel free to include server, guild, and any other information you'd like as well! We'll post your screenshots out here on Massively and give you the credit for sending those images in.
