5th Cell's Hybrid bumped to 2012

Hybrid, developer 5th Cell's unique XBLA shooter, originally slated for a release sometime this year, can now be expected to provide an unexpected experience in 2012. 5th Cell announced the delay today, with creative director Jeremiah Slaczka explaining that "with an additional year, we can take what we've learned and really drill down on our ideas to hopefully transform this game into something great."

When we saw it a couple of months ago, it was a tactical shooter with movement mapped to the buttons. It's already a transformative experience. We kind of can't wait to see how the company is going to "transform" it further.

5TH CELL DELAYS HYBRID

The recently announced XBLA title gets pushed back to 2012

Bellevue, Wash. – May 12, 2011 – Following the first previews of their new Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) title, Hybrid, 5TH Cell, the innovative developers of the critically acclaimed series Scribblenauts, Lock's Quest and Drawn to Life, have decided to delay release of the title to 2012.

"Hybrid was very well received this past GDC; people really seemed to enjoy it," said CEO and Creative Director Jeremiah Slaczka, "but with an additional year, we can take what we've learned and really drill down on our ideas to hopefully transform this game into something great." With the extra time, 5TH Cell wants to create the highest quality title possible. "At 5TH Cell, our goal is to strive toward making the best titles we can, with the extra time we can make quality a focus," said Slaczka.
