Choose My Adventure Live: Questing in Winterspring

Choose the adventures of Robin Torres as Roblinator the goblin shamanator, or join in with It came from the Blog on Zangarmarsh (US-PVE-H) every Wednesday at 1 p.m. EDT.

Today, Roblinator is questing in Winterspring, as per your votes. Though you and my normal band of enablers are welcome to come quest at the same time, I will be in my own group in the hopes that any "collect 10 Yeti bellybuttons" quests will go a bit more quickly. Since I stop to read the quests out loud, fall into crevices, get lost when I have no one to follow, etc., questers beginning when I do should be way ahead of me by the time I actually make it to the quest area.

So please join me in game or by watching the stream above and participating in the chat after the break. Also, I rant about battlegrounds later in this post, if that is of interest to you.

Update: The stream is now over. You can watch the video replay by clicking on the image above.

Don't adjust your sets! Justin.tv's gaming section is now Twitch.tv; otherwise, the changes are minimal.

Last week's adventures

Last week was a random battleground adventure, and with the queues so very short, we were able to enjoy quite a few with practically no non-PVP time. Things I learned:

  • We can't queue with more than five people. Once upon a time, you could queue with a raid so as to make a premade. Then Blizzard made that stop in Alterac Valley, but you were still able to queue with more than five people for other BGs. At some point when I wasn't paying attention, Blizzard made it so that you can never queue for a BG with more than five people -- at least for all of the ones available at level 50. So no It came from the Blog premades for us. /sadface

  • Battleground players never change. There will always be the Tokyo Roses and the HK (honorable kill) farmers and the exploiters and every other player-made obstacle to winning or at least enjoying a battleground. Actually, I didn't learn this last week -- just reaffirmed it.

  • Thunderstorm is as much fun in the Eye of the Storm as it is at the Lumber Mill in Arathi Basin. Keep standing on the edge, Alliance.

I particularly am sad that there are still HK farmers, even with the Random Battleground feature. You can keep randoming your BGs over and over, getting large honor bonuses. So a quick turnover is to your benefit if you are trying to amass honor. That's why I don't understand the HK farming mentality -- unless it's being used as a justification for being a funsucker. Please explain with data if there is actually a valid reason for it. Even if you have the data, however, I'm still going to believe that following strategies to attempt to win battlegrounds will always be much more fun (for me and most of the participants) than hanging out in the middle killing people.

If you are really only in battlegrounds to kill other players, could you at least do so at the objectives? Please?

My future adventures

Once I hit 55, I will not be questing until I reach 58. So say we all. I really wouldn't have minded Silithus, but I guess you all would mind watching me be there, and I can respect that. So the rotation will be PVP and dungeons during that time.

At 58, I will be forced to quest in Hellfire Peninsula. This leads me to believe you like hearing me whine -- also, that you are rather fond of the color orange. From 58 to 60, you'll have plenty of both. I'll put up polls for questing at 60 and beyond as we get closer.

Next week is a random dungeon, probably with the usual suspects. Until then, have fun!
