Babel Rising on XBLA and PSN courtesy of Ubisoft, Kinect and Move support biblically appropriate

Ubisoft has had a string of high-profile (and notably high-quality!) digital releases over the years; everything from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game to Outland to the unreleased combo of I Am Alive and Shoot Many Robots. You can add a third game to this latest crop: Babel Rising, a "next-generation version of the popular iPhone game of the same name." That iPhone game tasked players with inhabiting the role of God and preventing builders from completing the tower for as long as possible; we'll leave the religious interpretation of that futility to you.

Ubisoft has partnered with Mando Productions, a French developer which took over development of the iOS game, to bring the experience to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The hook: touch controls are out and motion controls are in. Babel Rising will support both Kinect and PlayStation Move, as well as competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes. If you can't wait until the "calendar year 2012" release date, we'd suggest trying out the iOS version for a buck – that's a small price to pay to play God.%Gallery-137718%

BABEL RISING BUILDS ON UBISOFT'S STRONG FOUNDATION OF PLAYSTATION NETWORK AND XBOX LIVE ARCADE FOR XBOX 360 TITLES

SAN FRANCISCO – October 27, 2011 –Today, Ubisoft announced the development of Babel Rising, a new game coming to PlayStation®Network and Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft in calendar year 2012. Developed by Mando Productions, players use the Kinect™ for Microsoft Xbox 360® entertainment system or the PlayStation®Move for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system to summon God-like powers and prevent the Babylonians from constructing the Tower of Babel. Babel Rising highlights Ubisoft's continued leadership in developing games for PlayStation®Network and Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

Ubisoft's Babel Rising is the next-generation version of the popular iPhone game of the same name. In Babel Rising, gamers play as God, preventing humans from building the tower of Babel. Gamers can use their divine powers by hurling bolts of lightning, summoning massive earthquakes or unleashing gigantic floods upon the Babylonians. Developer Mando Productions has breathed new life into the game with 3D graphics and competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes.

Babel Rising joins the previously announced I Am Alive™ and Shoot Many Robots™ as part of Ubisoft's upcoming digital releases. During Ubisoft's Digital Day event, Ubisoft also demonstrated a yet-to-be named ATV racing game featuring fast-paced racing, aerial tricks, extensive vehicle customization options and a competitive multiplayer experience that is also scheduled for release in calendar year 2012.

This year alone, Ubisoft's From Dust™ became one of the top-selling digital titles, surpassing 500,000 downloads, and other titles, such as Beyond Good & Evil® HD and Outland™, have been critically acclaimed fan favorites.
