WRUP: Happy Halloween edition
As we all know, tomorrow many of us celebrate a holiday. I can't be bothered to look up which one, so I'm just going to assume it's Halloween, the annual celebration of skeletons jumping out of people and days with all the blood. I think. Or maybe it's Festivus. The point is, there's some sort of holiday taking place, and it takes place tomorrow, and whatever it is we hope you have a happy one. Especially if it does happen to be Halloween.
But now, it's time for what everyone has really been looking forward to this week: WRUP! Yes, it's the weekly rundown of what the Massively staff is up to over the weekend, and this week we're also talking about what we hope to get from a fat, bearded man who has enslaved some reindeer. So take a look past the break for our plans, and let us know what you'll be up to in the comments.
@Beau_Hindman: I'll be switching to 1100 AD, a new (for me) browser-based MMORTS. I'll also be attempting to get a little further in my RuneScape Lumbridge task set (I've been doing it on and off for a long time now), while in another tab I will be running Glitch, Illyriad and probably Golden Age. I like to multitask. I made a Bounty Hunter in Star Wars: The Old Republic, and I've been enjoying the stories. The combat is about as exciting as damp toast, but luckily quests are pretty easy and the graphics are nice. I need to jump back into Ryzom for a bit, as well. I have restarted my old gaming PC, so I need to reinstall many of the client-based MMOs that were taken off.
I hope Santa leaves me with some extra RAM. I need to get two more gigs for my wife's laptop, and four more for my desktop. I always need more RAM!
@nbrianna: My parents will be in town for the holiday, but also Star Wars: The Old Republic woooooo.
I could really use a new processor, Santa! I usually upgrade a part or two at a time, and my processor is next so I can really jack up the settings on Skyrim.
Considering that I'm hosting Christmas at my house, I don't know what this weekend will bring, either in terms of time or in terms of other games to play. My current plan is to mix up SWTOR and Final Fantay XIV as time permits, but we'll see if that survives contact with the weekend.
As for gaming-related goodies... honestly, I'm pretty happy right now, but I wouldn't say "no" to a new monitor and some RAM. Mostly I'm hoping to just have a nice Christmas surrounded by my family.
@Jeremy_Stratton: Still not done with Lineage II. I'm surprised by it. I thought my enthusiasm would be waning by now, but I'm quite enjoying it. Finals are over, the holiday is near, and I'm gaming like crazy. I am trying to squeeze a lot of offline gaming in. I'm really enjoying adventure games. Syberia was a pleasure, and Syberia II has me just as enthralled. Online, I want to get back into Fallen Earth. I miss the wasteland.
I need an extra-big stocking because I'm hoping Santa brings me a new computer. Oh wait, he doesn't need to bother because I'm getting one for myself!
@Sypster: I'll be doing some Christmas traveling and visiting, so while my gaming time might become nil, I'll still bring my trusty new laptop loaded with all the SWTORian goodness that it can hold. I just hit level 25 last night with my Operative and can barely tear myself away from the game to play anything else. That's not good, is it?
I have no huge Christmas wish — at this stage of my life it's really more about giving than getting — but if I happen to get some more Star Wars LEGOs for my collection, I shan't complain.
I usually enjoy a low-key holiday just hanging out with the family. I may slip some Aion arenas into the schedule before my tickets expire or enjoy a few more Frostfell activities in EverQuest II, but gaming time will be pretty limited until later Christmas Day when I know both kids will want to bury themselves on the computer! Who knows, might even poke about SWTOR some; it's fun enough as a shared single-player experience.
Honestly, I don't really entertain thoughts of getting anything for Christmas (a personality trait that loved ones hate because I can never think of anything I want), but I suppose if Santa wanted to slip a nice gaming laptop into my stocking so I could continue my escapades when I travel, I would show copious amounts of gratitude!
@Rubi_: I've got family in town for Christmas, so I'll be enjoying the extra family time. I'll definitely try to find time to play some SWTOR (yep, I finally bought it!) and to participate in the Guild Wars Wintersday events.
As for my gaming-related Christmas wish, Santa could leave me a hefty new video card and it would make my day!
At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game — and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
