Reveling in darkness, iBuyPower unveils Erebus GT at CES

Fresh for the crowds of gadget worshipers in Las Vegas is the Erebus GT from iBuyPower. While in all reality, it's just another box of gaming glory, this one is named for the Greek god of darkness. Built specifically for overclockers and those who insist on maximum cooling capabilities, the Erebus GT features better airflow, larger 140mm radiators and removable hard drive cages. Even with these additions, the company has managed to make the GT smaller than its predecessor. In all, three radiators now pump 4.5 gallons of cooling liquid through the system every minute, which allows the company to confidently overclock the Erebus GT by up to 30 percent. Perhaps iBuyPower could have named this after a god of wind, or speed, or even radiator fluid... but darkness? Really? Full PR follows the break.

LAS VEGAS – January 10, 2012 – iBUYPOWER, a leading innovator in gaming PCs , is excited to announce the Erebus GT. Name for the God Darkness, Erebus GT utilizes epic liquid cooling and overclocking abilities to reign supreme over lesser gaming systems.

The rugged steel and aluminum Erebus GT is similar to first generation system but has been redesigned to feature a smaller footprint without sacrificing cooling ability. Like original system, Erebus GT features a top fill port, built-in reservoir that can be checked through the front panel, and transparent fins on top to redirect exhaust to the rear of the chassis.

"The Erebus was an incredibly successful system, however we pay close attention to customer feedback and knew we could improve on the original design." said Darren Su, Executive Vice President of iBUYPOWER. "As requested, we were able to reduce both the size and price of the system without significantly impacting performance. The slightly smaller Erebus GT is every bit the equal of the larger first generation model, armed with unmatched cooling capabilities and designed to be overclocked."

New features, unique to the second generation include removable hard drive cages with mounted fans for improved internal airflow, larger 140mm radiators and an aluminum top panel. Three radiators and 13mm high flow tubing pump out 4.5 gallons per minute of cooling liquid to keep Erebus GT running ice cold. The smartly designed case creates a unidirectional air flow to help the cooling system reach a maximum rated heat dissipation of 2,500W.

Gamers looking to take full advantage of the Erebus GT's unparalleled cooling capabilities can purchase iBUYPOWER's PowerDrive Overclocking Service . Professionally trained and certified iBUYPOWER technicians can boost CPU performance by as much as 30% without the risk of system instability, crashes or damage to expensive components. All new systems enhanced with PowerDrive overclocking are fully covered under iBUYPOWER's standard warranty.
