Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition marches to PS3 and PSN this fall

Under Defeat is the latest game to get the HD treatment, re-launching courtesy of Rising Star Games, both as a retail PS3 game and PSN download, this fall for $39.99.

Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition not only sports the usual visual polish that comes with slapping HD on the title, but also a new dual-stick control scheme and a new game mode built for 16:9 displays. The physical retail edition also tosses in a digital art book, soundtrack and a letter from the producer of Under Defeat and the CEO of developer G.rev.

G.rev, the Japanese outfit whose chief export is shmups, launched Under Defeat on the Dreamcast back in 2006. It's a top-down shmup set in an alternate-reality World War II, in which players control ze Germans.

RISING STAR GAMES ANNOUNCES UNDER DEFEAT HD: DELUXE EDITION FOR NORTH AMERICA

Reinvention of the Classic Action-Packed Shmup Comes Exclusively
To PlayStation®3 system and PlayStation®Network

LOS ANGELES – August 22, 2012 – Rising Star Games Inc. today announced it will be bringing the classic shmup (shoot 'em up) arcade game, Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition, to North America exclusively for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PlayStation®Network. Developed by Japanese arcade video game company G.rev, Under Defeat is widely regarded as one of the best-selling and finest shooting games ever made.

"Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition is another highly anticipated title that has been regarded as one of the all-time classic games by the shmup community," said Phil Robinson, VP of Rising Star Games Inc. "G.rev has a great reputation within the industry and we're thrilled to be working with them to bring Under Defeat HD to North America."

Set in an alternate universe during a World War-esque conflict, Under Defeat HD lets players take on the role of a helicopter pilot in a territory divided by struggle between the Empire and the Union.

Under Defeat HD builds off of the classic arcade version with a new set of upgrades and modes. Some of the new features include: destructive realism, presenting a further refined iteration of the original with improved artwork, textures and shadowing; and dual stick compatibility. The game also includes two engaging player modes, including Classic Arcade Mode and a 16:9 New Order Mode, which takes full advantage of HD TV screens. Moreover, practice versions of both modes will also be available for players looking to refine their skills on individual levels.

In addition to the full game disc, Rising Star Games' Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition includes:

· Digital art book
· All current DLC and patches
· Soundtrack CD featuring tracks from the New Order Mode
· Letter from G.rev CEO and Under Defeat Executive Producer Hiroyuki Maruyama

Under Defeat HD will be available this fall on both the PlayStation®3 system and PlayStation®Network for $39.99.
