Borderlands 2 sculpts 'Mount Jackmore' promo game for everyone but North America

Borderlands 2 Mount Jackmore promo game

2K Games and Gearbox have concocted an interesting little advergame called Mount Jackmore, where players shoot at a giant sculpture of Borderlands 2 antagonist Handsome Jack. Beneath the rock you'll find prizes that run the gamut from in-game items to actual copies of the game. There's also a small chance you could win one of those sweet loot chests.

But, there's a catch: US gamers can't play Mount Jackmore – the promotion is open to people from Australia, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Spain and the UK aged 18 years or over. Also you only get a limited amount of ammo each day to play. You start with 100, and if you expend them then you'll get another 100. The only other way to get more bullets in a day is to refer a friend, then you'll get an additional 100.

More mayhem awaits as Borderlands 2 fans go head-to-head to conquer Mount Jackmore
Limited Edition Borderlands 2 Ultimate Loot Chests and other goodies to be won via new online shoot and loot game

Windsor, UK, September 14, 2012 – First they had gamers hooked for hours with 80's style de-make, 'The Border Lands'. Now, 2K Games and Gearbox Software have launched 'Mount Jackmore', a new online game with prizes to give away including the much sought-after Limited Edition Loot Lockers.

Handsome Jack, the ultimate villain of Gearbox Software's upcoming release, Borderlands 2, has kicked his arrogance and douchebaggery up a notch by carving his face into Pandora's rocky landscape. 'Mount Jackmore' gives players the task/mission to shoot away at his chiseled features in the hope of taking away a prize.

Registered players start by selecting their weapon of choice and use their initial supply of 100 bullets to chip away at Jack's stony face. Players can earn additional ammo once a day by inviting friends to play. As the rock disintegrates, prizes will be given away at designated points in the game.

Viewing the game in real time, players will be able to watch as their competitors take pot shots at the rock and will have to fight it out against them to hit the right spot at the right time.

The prizes range from Borderlands 2 Vault logo pin badges to official apparel, figurines and copies of the game (upon release), with the player who destroys the final piece of the mountain set to win a special prize. There are also sixteen sought-after Limited Edition Borderlands 2 Ultimate Loot Chests to be won.

'Mount Jackmore' can be accessed via www.wubwub.eu and will consist of four separate rounds, each round lasting for a week, with the first round starting today. It is open to residents aged 18 and older in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Denmark, Russia and Australia. The contest rules, along with full terms and conditions, can be viewed online at the following link: wubwub.eu/jackmoreterms/gb.php

Available internationally on September 21st 2012, and in North America on September 18th 2012, Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed four-player cooperative shooter-looter that combined intense first-person mayhem with role-playing gameplay. Borderlands 2 features all-new characters; skills; imaginative, diverse new environments with unique missions and enemies; and more exciting and fun weapons, equipment and loot than ever before. All of these features come together in a story that takes players to the world of Pandora to take down the notorious Handsome Jack and his corrupt Hyperion Corporation as a solo campaign or with up to four cooperative players.

Gamers who pre-order Borderlands 2 from participating retailers will gain access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, allowing them to download the Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key and the Vault Hunter's Relic. To pre-order Borderlands 2 please visit www.borderlands2.com/preorder.
