Save the Day from the comfort of home, for free

Quarrel devs release browser game Save the Day

Denki, the developers of charming land-grab word game, Quarrel, have a new, free browser game all about saving people from certain doom. Save the Day is a "save 'em up," twitch arcade game built for consoles in HTML 5 but playable completely on the web.

"A lot of platforms, engines and developers talk about aiming to deliver console gaming experiences in the browser but – to date – few have delivered," producer Sean Taylor says. "We see Save the Day as a benchmark, proof that you can make a browser game which not only looks like it belongs on XBLA or PSN but plays like it too."

Denki delivers a console game in the browser

Actions speak louder than words as award-winning indie developer raise the HTML5 gaming bar

31.10.2011

Denki are delighted to announce the launch of Save the Day, their new arcade Save 'Em Up game. The follow up to the award-winning, acclaim-grabbing word game, Quarrel, Save the Day is a modern twitch arcade game with a difference; it's a console game built in HTML5 and fully playable in the browser.

It is the last point which Denki are particularly proud of, as Producer, Sean Taylor, explains: "A lot of platforms, engines and developers talk about aiming to deliver console gaming experiences in the browser but - to date - few have delivered. We see Save the Day as a benchmark, proof that you can make a browser game which not only looks like it belongs on XBLA or PSN but plays like it too. Kudos to the guys at Turbulenz, some doubted their HTML5 gaming engine could deliver genuine console quality experiences but I believe Save the Day is proof that it can."

Of the game itself, Taylor says: "Save the Day takes the familiarity of a classic twitch arcade game and makes it fresh and vital again, turning the classic Shoot 'Em Up concept on its head to make the game about saving rather than slaughtering."
