Vita tops Japanese hardware charts

The Vita topped the Media Create charts last week, an occurrence spurred by two events: the previous week's price drop, and the launch of Soul Sacrifice. The Vita sold 63,581 units in the week ending March 10, putting it above the combined 61,008 3DSes and 3DS XLs sold in Japan, and well above the poor Wii U, which moved only 9,454 units.

Soul Sacrifice, Keiji Inafune's super grotesque Monster Hunter-style adventure, occupies both the No. 2 and No. 10 spots on the software charts. The standalone game (and hardware bundle) accounts for 92,396 copies, and the "Kyoutou Double Pack" – which is two copies of the game – sold 22,050. Together, that means Soul Sacrifice actually outsold the No. 1 game, Hatsune Miku Project Diva F for PS3. And that's not even counting the "Kyoutou Pack" as two copies sold each.
