Refresh Roundup: week of August 5th, 2013

Your smartphone and / or tablet is just begging for an update. From time to time, these mobile devices are blessed with maintenance refreshes, bug fixes, custom ROMs and anything in between, and so many of them are floating around that it's easy for a sizable chunk to get lost in the mix. To make sure they don't escape without notice, we've gathered every possible update, hack, and other miscellaneous tomfoolery we could find during the last week and crammed them into one convenient roundup. Official Android updates

  • Sony Xperia Tablet Z: The LTE version (SGP321) has beaten the WiFi version of this tablet as the first to receive Android 4.2.2. The update packs a few visual tweaks, and users will find the virtual navigation buttons are now centered and the notification bar is now at the top of the screen. [Xperia Blog]

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0: Android 4.2.2 is now available for the LTE version (GT-N5120) of this tablet within the UK, which can be installed either OTA or through Samsung Kies. [SamMobile]

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0: Users in France are now seeing Android 4.2.2 as an available update for the HSPA+ version (GT-P3100) of this tablet. [SamMobile]
