GameStick Android microconsole launching October 29

GameStick manufacturer PlayJam announced a global retail release date of October 29 for its Android-powered, HDMI plug-in microconsole. PlayJam will wrap up its first production run later this month as it prepares to ship the console to Kickstarter backers.

GameStick supporters are well acquainted with delays by now, as the console was originally set to launch in April. Production setbacks later pushed the platform's release date to August, then September. PlayJam assures that the project has now entered its final stages, and more than 5,000 units will soon be on their way to backers worldwide.

The GameStick is priced at $79.99, and is available for pre-order at Amazon and GameStop.

GAMESTICK GLOBAL RETAIL RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED FOR OCTOBER 29th 2013

Thursday 12th September 2013, London; Jasper Smith, CEO of PlayJam, the company behind the highly anticipated micro games console - GameStick, today confirmed a Global on-sale release date for the device of Tuesday 29th October 2013.

"While to myself and the team at PlayJam the journey seems longer, we have in fact come a significant way in a very short period of time with GameStick," says Smith, PlayJam CEO, "The challenge of bringing affordable gaming to the big screen has always sat at the heart of everything we do and GameStick represents a huge step forward in reaching that goal. We're extremely proud of what we have achieved and look forward to families getting their hands on devices in the run up to Christmas."

PlayJam has remained firm in its commitment to honour its promise to their Kickstarter backers to fulfil their units ahead of the retail launch. Those units will ship out at the end of the month with retail following thereafter.
