GaymerX2 scheduled for July 2014

PSA Today last day for GaymerX prereg pricing

Queer geek culture convention GaymerX returns to San Francisco for "GaymerX2" from July 11-13, 2014. The convention has been expanded to three and a half days, with triple the capacity of this year's inaugural event, which included panels on gay and lesbian inclusion in games such as The Sims and BioWare's oeuvre.

"For games to be taken seriously as the pieces of art that they are they can't live in a culture that is afraid to tackle and discuss issues like gender, sexuality, race, and identity," said GaymerX co-founder Matt Conn. "The amount of support that we've gotten for GaymerX shows that the gaming community is coming around to the idea of having serious debates on how to improve the medium."

Tickets are available now at the GaymerX site. Cards Against Humanity is a sponsor of this year's event, which gives that team 10 months to come up with a special bonus deck just for the event. No, we're not being passive aggressive at all. Nope.

GAYMERCONNECT ANNOUNCES GAYMERX2 WITH TRIPLE THE SPACE, CELEBRITY GUESTS, AND A WEDDING

GaymerX2 will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel, July 11-13 in Downtown San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, California, Oct. 1, 2013

GaymerX, the gaming convention with a focus on queer geek culture, today announced their venue and lineup of guests for the con's second year (GaymerX2), along with a special surprise: a wedding.GaymerX ran it's first year in August of 2013 and was met with critical acclaim from fans and media worldwide. The convention took place in Japantown, San Francisco as the first convention of it's kind, and included guests like Ellen McLain, Pandora Boxx, Anna Anthropy and speakers such as Jessica Merizan, George Skleres, Jared Rea, Christine Love and Porpentine.

Due to the outcry for a larger, longer convention, GaymerX2 (GX2) will be held at the InterContinental San Francisco Hotel over the course of three and a half days. The beautiful venue boasts nearly triple the convention space along with two ballrooms, a spa and pool, a Presidential Suite that is known to host-- you guessed it-- President Obama, and even a Michelin Star rated restaurant. Guests will include David Gaider, Mattie Brice, Alexis Ohanian, Gordon Bellamy, Jaime Woo, and John Scalzi, musicians like 2 Mello and Virt, as well as returning faces like Ellen McLain, John Patrick Lowrie and Zach Weinersmith. Additionally, Logo TV will return as the presenting media sponsor of GaymerX.

Along with the game rooms (Card, Table and Video) and new sponsors like Cards Against Humanity, exhibition hall, panels, dance, concert, and mixers will be a special surprise: a wedding. Famously, a surprise proposal took place during the first year con in the middle of Voice Acting 101, sung by Ellen McLain to the man's boyfriend. This time around, the couple will be having a "Gaymer Wedding" and attendees will be welcome to join in.

"For games to be taken seriously as the pieces of art that they are," said Matt Conn, co-founder of GaymerX, "they can't live in a culture that is afraid to tackle and discuss issues like gender, sexuality, race, and identity. The amount of support that we've gotten for GaymerX shows that the gaming community is coming around to the idea of having serious debates on how to improve the medium."

GaymerX is the first ever gaming convention which focuses on LGBT themes and queer theory for gamers and developers. GX2 takes place at the Intercontinental SF in San Francisco, CA on July 11-13th, 2013. Everyone is welcome, no matter who they are or what games they play, as long as they come as they are. The goal of GaymerX is to create a safe gaming space where everyone is welcome to embrace their nerdiness.
