Best Buy to offer 20% off new games for two years with revamped Gamers Club Unlocked memberships

Best Buy to offer 20% off new games for two years with new Gamers Club Unlocked memberships

Best Buy will be changing their Gamers Club program soon. The new Gamers Club Unlocked membership will cost $119.99 and last for two years, during which the big blue retailer will allow customers to save 20 percent off new games, as well as a host of additional benefits. The change is slated to go live November 10.

A Best Buy representative told Polygon that the cost of Gamers Club Unlocked is equivalent to the savings a customer would earn buying 10 games over the course of the membership's two-year length. This calculation assumes said games cost $59.99 each, thus saving the hypothetical customer $11.99 per game. Those who opt into the program will also receive double My Best Buy points for every dollar spent on games, accessories and DLC, as well as double points for every dollar received for trade-ins. Similar to GameStop's PowerUp Rewards card, the Gamers Club Unlocked membership will also save customers 10 percent on pre-owned games, and earn them 10 percent extra when they trade in.

Gamers Club Unlocked memberships will also be part of an "Epic Gaming Package" deal for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Packages consist of one system, an extra controller, two new games, a two-year subscription to either PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live, a two-year Geek Squad protection plan, and a Gamers Club Unlocked Membership. The PS4 package will cost $800, for a total savings of $89.92, while an Xbox One package will run you $880, and save you $109.93.

That's a lot of information to take in, but we expect you'll hear it again the next time you stop at your local Best Buy. In the meantime, if you've got questions about the packages, Best Buy has an FAQ page to help you out.
