PixelJunk Inc is 'PixelJunk 16,' on Steam 'later this year'

PixelJunk Inc. – the official moniker of the codenamed PixelJunk 1-6 – is coming to Steam later this year. The 2D game follows budding soup makers looking to strike it rich in the gregarious game of goulash. Essentially, it's a 2D platformer where you use a laser to deconstruct matter in the environment, which you then use to build up your interstellar soup empire. Simple.

In addition to the name and narrowed launch window, developer Q Games has announced Mac and Linux versions of PixelJunk Inc. will follow the PC launch on Steam. PixelJunk 1-6 was announced late last year, specifically for the PC – an uncharacteristic first for the series that traditionally debuts to Sony platforms. Kyoto, Japan - Q-Games, the developer behind the popular PixelJunk series of games on PlayStation Network and Steam, is proud to officially unveil PixelJunk Inc., the official title of the game formerly code-named as PixelJunk 1-6. PixelJunk Inc., announced in late-2012, has been developed openly and detailed on the weekly PixelJunk dev blog (pixeljunk.jp/inc) as an exercise in bridging the gap between developer and gamer.

Along with the new name, Q-Games is excited to release the first gameplay trailer for PixelJunk Inc. In this trailer, the first of many introductions to the different aspects of PixelJunk Inc. and this new PixelJunk world, gamers get a peek at two intrepid explorers building the foundation of their interstellar Soup Co. empire. Watch as their brothy empire rises from the humble beginnings of base creation and farming ingredients, and revel in their triumph as they create the foundation of their very first soup factory. Finally, watch them reap the rewards gained from serving up a payload full of interstellar bouillabaisse into the cosmos!

PixelJunk Inc. is currently being developed for Steam on PC with an anticipated release later this year. With this new trailer, we're also happy to announce that Mac and Linux versions of PixelJunk Inc. will also follow the initial PC release. Gamers can follow PixelJunk Inc.'s progress on our weekly developer's blog here, pixeljunk.jp/inc, and stay updated with new screenshots, trailers, and wallpapers.
