Don't Starve launched on PS4 this week – and for free if you're part of the PlayStation Plus program. We created a little beginner's guide for the game that's worth checking out if you'd like to get a better foothold in the survival game.

What's everyone playing this weekend?

• Alexander Sliwinski (@Sliwinski, Twitch): Don't Starve has its claws in me deep. The other day I found (spoiler), followed by (spoiler). Can you believe it?! That game is crazy, yo.

• Anthony John Agnello (@AJohnAgnello): I continue to plow through Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies and am really starting to like Hotline Miami on PS Vita. I also think I am finally, finally going to try out Pandora's Tower for Wii. It's been sitting on my shelf for ages, but I'm in the mood for some hefty 3D combat. And terrifying monster meat collection.

• Danny Cowan (@db_cowan, Twitch): Gonna work on getting the rest of the green stars in Super Mario 3D World this weekend. And the stamps. And the golden flags. This might take a while.

• David Hinkle (@DaveHinkle, Twitch): I've been meaning to jump into the Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod for over a week now and I feel good about my chances this weekend. Other than that, I still need to play Shelter and stop shooting every ship I see in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, so I can finally finish the campaign.

• Earnest Cavalli (@Ecavalli, Twitch): I've got a living room packed full of the latest and greatest in video game technology, but who cares about any of that? I'm going to spend the weekend playing Gradius on my 3DS.

• Jess Conditt (@JessConditt, Twitch): I'm going to see AFI this weekend, so I'll be playing that fun game where you get all warm and squished against a bunch of drunken strangers on the off-chance that you can touch Davey Havok's foot or something.

• Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK, Twitch): The Room Two beckons with its mysterious keyholes and enticing latches and hinges that harbor HORRIBLE SECRETS.

• Mike Suszek (@MikeSuszek, Twitch): I may boot up Tomb Raider again, but I'll probably play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night all weekend on my Vita. I have a thing for PSOne classics.

• Richard Mitchell (@TheRichardM, Twitch): I'm deep in the new age grip of Ecco the Dolphin on Sega CD. I've also been very pleased with Splinter Cell: Blacklist so far. Going for the best "ghost" score feels like a whole new way to play. Finally, I'm digging through student entries for IGF.

• Sinan Kubba (@SinanKubba, Twitch): Made the mistake of booting Football Manager 2014. It was nice knowing y'all.

• Sam Prell (@SamPrell, Twitch): Something with a lot of bass, as I plan to purchase a subwoofer for my home theater setup this weekend. BOOM-POW!

• Steven Wong: I plan on getting back to Batman: Arkham Origins.

• Susan Arendt (@SusanArendt, Twitch): I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say what I'm playing, but it's The Reappearance of Precipitation-based Electrical Discharge. Oh, probably also Don't Starve, which I am very bad at, but adore.

• Thomas Schulenberg (@T_Schulenberg, Twitch): I was going to finally start Mass Effect 3, but once I dug up my Mass Effect 2 save and realized I'd need to buy $80 of story-related DLC to see all of the trilogy, I changed my mind. I've dug out the SNES for Donkey Kong Country instead.

• Xav de Matos (@Xav, Twitch): I'm moving, so I'll be playing Tetris to practice my packing skills.
