WRUP: Infographic Edition

Blizzard put together a pretty neat infographic earlier this week that pointed out all kinds of cool and interesting tidbits of information about World of Warcraft. While I did enjoy the pile of intriguing facts and figures surrounding the game, I wondered if perhaps there might be something missing from the infographic that should have been included. So I put the question to our writers this week, as well as the usual inquiry: What are you playing?

As for me, I'll be bumming around on an alt. Except for Sunday. There's this big game on Sunday that I have a vested interest in and will be watching from my snow-blanketed home, somewhere in the mountains of Colorado.

Adam Koebel (@bendakwow) I'll be working on my alt, farming Warbringers, and perhaps I'll do some challenge modes. I would have liked to see some class specific stats on the infographic (e.g. the 5 most tamed hunter pets), or some silly stats like the total number of deaths from falling. As for the Superbowl... I guess that means less competition on the Warbringers for me!

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I think it's probably time to decide whether to side with the racist meatheads or the corrupt autocratic bureaucrats in the war for Skyrim, so I'll probably do that this week. Also maybe get to the Delta Quadrant on my Glitch in Starbound.

Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) If I'm lucky I'll have some time to farm Lesser Coins this weekend. It seems like I'm always out of them these days, and also coming up short on the time to farm them, too.

I didn't find the infographic all that interesting to be honest. There was some cute stuff, like how many pandaren females have foxtails, but a lot of the other stuff didn't catch my interest. Almost all of the stuff about how big the game is -- how many pages the in-game text takes up or how many audio files there are -- didn't grab me. I would have liked to see more data like the League of Legends infographic from a couple of years ago had. Stuff like how many people currently log in per day, and what the current ratio of male to female players is. Age ranges and other demographic information would be fascinating too. I really liked that statistic thrown out at BlizzCon 2013 about players having killed 1,000,000,000 Kobolds in Elwynn Forest. That's the kind of stuff I want to see.

Elizabeth Harper (@Faience) Off doing family stuff this weekend, but I might sneak in a tiny bit of WoW time in the evenings... what I do will just depend on how tiny the time is!

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) Trying to psych myself up to get through the last 12 levels to 90 on my Paladin. ALMOST there just a little bit more. Eating steak and lobster on Sunday while watching some sportsball! As far as the infographic, I really want to know the total number of deaths caused by elevators in WOW since servers went live. Like, across all accounts to current.

Matt "Matticus" Low (@matticus) Probably doing some Chinese New Year stuff over the weekend. Gong Hay Fat Choy! Haven't touched any in game pet leveling in sometime so I think I'll go do that and add to my stable of pets. And then Sunday is that big game thing. Go Broncos!

Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) I am going to be playing the go to California game. It's a good game, results in considerable rises in temperature and internet speed! Some jetlag, but it's not the end of the world. I thought the infographic was awesome, I would have loved a little more depth on the PvE and PvP instances info -- "instances" isn't that informative, and given the speed and smaller numbers in PvP instances I feel like it might be misrepresented a little. I'd also love to see EU-US differences, for some reason I find it fascinating!

Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) I'll be pet battling and participating in the Lunar Festival. Also, go Broncos! As far as the infographic, I would have liked to see some stats as far as class and race combos.

Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) They said at Blizzcon that over 1,000,000,000 kobolds have had their candles murderiffically stolen by players since WoW launched, I would have loved to see the exact numbers as well as more stats like that. How many times have we slaughtered poor Anzu in our quests for the Reins of the Raven Lord? (Which I finally got for myself this week, by the way, ahem.)

As for what I'll be playing, fantasy football at some Superbowl party. Go Hawks!

Scott Helfand (@sveltekumquat) Next time, I want to see an infographic that scrolls infinitely and includes every single possible piece of information anybody might remotely have a passing interest in. I mean, really, for $15 a month, I don't think that's too much to ask for. At the top of my list: I want to know exactly how many toons have died in Alterac Valley ever -- and I want that number to update dynamically within the infographic in real time.

Happy Year of the Horse, everybody! I'm going to gallop into the new year by taking Hamlet's advice to heart and reducing the extent to which I wipe my raid by dying in creatively varied but consistently unfortunate ways. I may also work on finishing up a few low-hanging achievement fruits I've inexplicably not bothered to finish up, like getting the final two elements of Stay Klaxxi done.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
