Tony Hawk's new game is exclusively for mobiles

Tony Hawk may be returning to video games, but he isn't returning to consoles anytime soon. The skateboarding star revealed his new game is exclusively for mobile phones, after admitting last year he'd been "wanting to do a mobile game for a long time."

"We're working on a mobile game now," Hawk told Bloomberg. "We're working on a game for mobile devices this year. We've never gone exclusively in that direction so I'm excited because, with the amount of time people are spending on their phones and their tablets playing games, we've never had our own game in that space, so I'm excited to provide one finally."

Hawk told CNBC last year that, with gaming expanding beyond traditional devices, "you've got to learn to adapt what you know from the technology into these areas." According to CNBC, Hawk saw the best mobile model to be making the game free but to start charging when players wanted to progress to further levels. There's no confirmation of any pricing structure for the newly-announced game as yet.

Hawk's new game, which sees the ex-pro skater reunite with Activision, is the first to bear the name since Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD (above) from 2012. Robomodo developed that game, as well as the ill-fated Ride and Shred, but despite some mischievous re-tweeting it's not known if the indie studio is on board this time around.
