Sony E3 2014 press conference round-up: GTA 5, Uncharted 4, PS TV

The end of Sony's E3 2014 press conference marks the end of an era, friends. The era historians will refer to as "The First Day of E3 2014" (Hey, people in the future are practical and honest, what can we say?). While we fully expect multiple libraries' worth of books to be written about this legendary age, we're ready to give you the Cliff's Notes version.

Ready to study up for your E3 History exam? Let's begin.

  • Beta? Who needs a beta when you could have an alpha? This Thursday, PS4 owners will get access to a "first look" alpha of Destiny, Bungie's upcoming sci-fi epic. So yes, this weekend you can tell people that you literally saw your Destiny.

  • Of course, you'll want to dress appropriately for your trip to outer space, and that means the latest in fashion sense. White happens to be totally in right now - or at least will be on September 9, when Destiny comes bundled with a "Glacier White" PS4.

  • Infamous: Second Son will be getting standalone DLC called Infamous: First Light sometime ... sometime. It will be about ... things. Unfortunately, virtually zero information was shared regarding this DLC, but a trailer seemed keen on showing us the character Abigail Walker, AKA Fetch. You know what that means: Fetch quests.

  • It's not a PlayStation console until Sackboy and friends pay a visit; Media Molecule's cute little guy has adventured across PS3, PSP and PS Vita, and this November he and some new friends will stake a claim to fame on the PS4.

  • A group of recent Carnegie Mellon University graduates have created Entwined, a game where players control two characters simultaneously via the DualShock 4's twin thumbsticks. But before we could even say "Ooh, pretty," they went and released it! The game is available now.

  • Vic-gore-ian era London sure seems like quite the trip, eh kiddies? We hope you've got the rot stuff to handle all manner of creepy beasties in Bloodborne, a new game by From Software. Now, what do you say we go fright-seeing? (Editor's note: This was written by The Cryptkeeper.)

  • It's dangerous to go alone; take a machine gun-wielding berserker friend. Far Cry 4 will feature co-op multiplayer, which was demonstrated for the first time during Sony's presser.

  • The team behind Spec Ops: The Line will be developingDead Island 2 for publisher Techland, Sony announced. Hopefully Yager will once again make us contemplate our actions and think about what it truly means to thrash undead. Or, maybe we'll just get to bash our way through hordes of zombies. Either one's good.

  • Diablo just doesn't feel like Diablo without a buttload of clicking. And lucky for PS4 owners who pick up Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition, they'll get all the clicking they could ever want and then some, because Blizzard is making a special Last of Us-themed dungeon just for Sony's console.

  • Sometimes a little white lie is okay - like when you, a 46-year-old man, pretend to be a little girl to get PS4 and Vita owners a re-release of Grim Fandango, the classic point-and-click adventure game from Tim Schafer and Double Fine. But seriously Tim, you're not fooling anyone.

  • PS3 and PS4 owners will get first dibs on the Hulk figure for Disney Infinity 2.0, when Avalanche and Disney release a Collector's Edition exclusive to Sony's home consoles. Careful - he may be small, but we wager he can still SMASH things up pretty good.

  • Aww, don't be sad little mage; you may be unemployed, but at least you can pass the time with Magicka 2 on your PS4!

  • While Abzu's reveal trailer may not say much, the game's pedigree says plenty. Developed by Giant Squid, the studio formed by Journey art director Matt Nava, Abzu will apparently trade dry sands for cool waters and feature many forms of marine life.

  • Indie publisher Devolver Digital and Sony are getting cozy and working to bring a slew of titles to PS4 and Vita.

  • Let It DIe, Let It Die / can't hold it back anymore / Let It Die, Let It Die / it's Suda51's new gaaaaaaame!

  • Procedurally-generated No Man's Sky will make contact with consoles via Sony's PS4 first, Hello Games' Sean Murray told an enthusiastic E3 crowd. And while we think that's great for Sony, just realize that you can't like, own the sky, man. The sky belongs to no man.

  • Give your PS4 game clips some life after love by Cher-ing sharing them to YouTube - Sony announced that the Google-owned video site will be coming ... at some point.

  • Quick, what's 12 divided by 25, multiplied by zero? Because that's how much you'll be paying when Sony brings 25 free-to-play games to PS4 over the next 12 months.

  • It's your PlayStation, and you want it now! Well, too bad; you'll have to wait until July 31 for the PlayStation Now service to enter beta. Sorry, J.G. Wentworth.

  • PS Vita TV, the Sony device that allows you to play Vita games on your TV via your handheld or DualShock controller, will be coming stateside. Kind of. While the device itself will be available here, it'll be under a different name: The PlayStation TV.

  • You PS4 owners haven't seen The Last of Us! Well, maybe you have, but not running on your console. That all changes July 29, when The Last of Us: Remastered will be ready to be collected and turned into anti-clicker mines.

  • Ratchet And Clank Redux will let players re-experience the original PS2 platforming classic just in time for the movie, which is coming to theaters in early 2015. So in a way, this might be one of those rare times where it's okay to be excited and happy about a video game tie-in to a movie.

  • We tend to think of super heroes (and space commanders) as the ones who give out endorsements, but villains can be picky about their favorite consumer products too. Batman's enemy Scarecrow has chosen to side with Sony and the PS4, which means exclusive missions for those who purchase a PS4 copy of Batman: Arkham Knight.

  • All good things must come to an end, but is Sony really ready to say goodbye to Naughty Dog's Uncharted franchise? Guess we'll find out in 2015, when Uncharted 4: A Thief's End comes to PS4.

  • Sony announced that Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming to PS4.

  • We're not sure you heard us: GTA 5 on PS4. It's happening.

  • ...

  • No, really.

  • Really.

  • Yeah, that is pretty awesome news.
