Project Spark dreams up October release date

Microsoft's robust game creation tool Project Spark is slated to launch in October, the publisher announced today. The final version of the game maker will arrive on October 7 in the Americas, October 9 in Asia-Pacific countries and October 10 in Europe. The developer, Team Dakota, opened Project Spark's beta up to Xbox One owners in March following its closed beta for PC players in December.

During its beta phases, Project Spark went through a few changes, namely in the removal of its "Spark Time" microtransactions. The $40 "Starter Pack" for the Xbox One version of Project Spark will include a host of add-on content, such as the Galaxies: First Contact sci-fi pack, Sir Haakon "Hawk" the Knight, the first episode of the Champions Quest campaign as well as "immediate access" to "paid content, features and add-ons in a single package." Microsoft says the disc-based Starter Pack content will also be available digitally to Xbox One and PC players when Project Spark launches.

"Project Spark" Officially Launches in October

"Project Spark," the ambitious game creation platform that empowers players to build their own interactive worlds, now has a release date. While the game is currently in open beta on Xbox One and Windows 8.1, aspiring game developers can get their hands on the final version of "Project Spark" on October 7 in the Americas, October 9 in Asia-Pacific countries and October 10 in Europe.

The Xbox One disc edition, dubbed the "Project Spark Starter Pack," will be loaded with an incredible collection of premium content for $39.99 (USD), which includes: the first sci-fi pack "Galaxies: First Contact," the warrior champion Sir Haakon "Hawk" the Knight, "Champions Quest: Void Storm," the first episode of an epic campaign adventure, and more. The Starter Pack will provide immediate access to some of the best paid content, features and add-ons in a single package. All the content included in the disc version will also be available digitally for Xbox One and Windows 8.1 on launch day.

"Project Spark" has made a name for itself as one of the most unique, innovative games available and can be downloaded for free on Xbox One and Windows 8.1. Players can then expand their experience by purchasing additional in-game content. The beta has been going strong since December of last year, and with the launch of "Project Spark Starter Park" the game will officially move out of beta to full release.

Creators that have been playing, creating, unlocking and enjoying the existing beta on Windows 8.1 or Xbox One will simply receive an update – so credits, creations and favorite levels will remain intact.

The "Project Spark" beta is now available in the Xbox One marketplace or Windows 8 Store. Join millions of other creators and players in "Project Spark" at www.projectspark.com, or follow the conversation on Twitter with #projectspark or on the "Project Spark" Facebook page.
