Persona 4 Arena Ultimax heads to Europe courtesy of Sega

It's been up in the air, but Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is confirmed now to be coming to Europe and other EMEA territories. Sega revealed it's publishing the follow-up fighter in November, with retail and downloadable versions on the way for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Atlus is bringing Ultimax to the Americas on September 30 without region-locking, in contrast to the controversial decision to region-lock the first Persona 4 Arena. That decision caught more attention when the game was delayed by nine months in Europe. Distributor Zen United has since returned the P4A digital rights to Atlus.

In addition to several new characters from Persona 3 and 4, Ultimax brings new gameplay features to the party. There are Persona 4 and Persona 3 story modes to play through, each character has a shadow form that handles differently, and players can use the new SP-Hold and skill boost systems to charge and launch bigger, more powerful attacks.

In America, additional DLC characters Marie and Adachi will be acquirable for free during launch week. We've reached out to Sega to see if the same deal applies across the ocean.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Battles its Way to Europe this November!
SEGA Europe to Publish ATLUS' Eagerly Awaited Fighting Game in EMEA Territories

London, September 10th – SEGA Europe Ltd and Atlus U.S.A., Inc. have today announced that Persona® 4 Arena Ultimax, the follow up to the critically acclaimed Persona 4 Arena, will be launching in Europe in November 2014. Published by SEGA Europe in EMEA territories, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be available as a digital download and at retail stores for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax once again sees the cast of Persona 3 and Persona 4 teaming up to compete in the P-1 Climax, a series of battles which must be won before the world ends and to discover the mastermind behind the P-1 Climax tournament. The original cast will also be joined by a few new faces including; Junepi Iori, Yukari Takeba, Rise Kujikawa and more. However, standing in their way of winning the tournament and averting the apocalypse is the ominous presence of the dual katana-wielding Sho Minazuki and worse still, a Sho look-alike who can wield a Persona...

All playable characters will feature in their own individual story modes, revealing more about them and how they became involved in the P-1 Climax. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax also features a new Shadow type for some characters which will completely change the way they fight. This new addition offers a whole new level of depth to the fighting mechanics and underlines P4AU as a tournament-calibre fighting game. Whether you are a newcomer or experienced player, you are sure to find a character whose fighting style suits you.

"We're delighted to be able to bring Persona 4 Arena Ultimax to Europe for all the fans of the series over here," said Jurgen Post, President and COO for SEGA Europe. "It represents a great new addition to SEGA's portfolio of tournament calibre fighting games."
