Dead or Alive 5 Last Round to hit PC, but online play's in limbo

The Dead or Alive series is coming to Windows PC for the first time, with DoA 5 Last Round confirmed for a Steam launch alongside console versions on February 17, 2015. However, much like the fighter's array of characters, not everything will be covered by launch time. According to its Steam page, Last Round will arrive on PC without online modes, and it will take up to three months for them to be patched in.

Publisher Koei Tecmo didn't offer any explanation for the belated online play in this week's press release or on the Steam page. The listing simply states that "online modes for Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will be added in a patch within three months of release."

Despite that omission, the Steam version is up for pre-order with 10 percent off the regular $40 asking price. Also, Koei Tecmo's offering the new Ninja 2015, Aloha and Beach Party costume sets as pre-purchase incentives that'll unlock as more users pre-order the game.

Like the upcoming PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, Last Round stuffs in the plethora of fighters, stages and other bits and bobs included with Dead or Alive 5, DoA 5 Plus and DoA 5 Ultimate. The apparently final re-release also introduces two new fighters, taking the roster up to 34, along with new stages.

Going by Koei Tecmo's previous wording, DLC can be transferred over from DoA 5 Ultimate to Last Round on consoles. However, there isn't any indication the new package comes with previously released downloadable extras.
