The Queue: Sunday is my birthday

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Matthew Rossi will be your host today.

It's been a rough month. Physically, at least. I've been unwell, let's put it that way. Anyway, Sunday is my birthday and I'm pretty excited about it. Excited enough that I'm going to address Sheoll's comment about galloping crocodiles here instead of as a WoW question, because, well, it's not a WoW question yet. (But it could be. Come on, WoW devs, give us some panzercrocs.) I've liked terrestrial crocodilians like Pristichampus for years, but Serano's galloping crocodiles are evidence that crocodiles were a very broad group with significant variation between members. Crocodilians are an incredibly successful group, the only surviving archosaurs besides birds, and its fascinating to see them in the fossil record varied from 40 foot long, 9 ton Sarcosuchus to tiny Araripesuchus, with body plans for completely terrestrial life, semi-aquatic, and even fully aquatic lifestyles. Seeing crocodilians with fully upright gait still blows me away.

One of the concepts I love when discussing paleontology is that of deep time - essentially, instead of trying to create a narrative for these animals (like, as an example, the one that argued dinosaurs were doomed to extinction because they were more primitive than mammals, which has been entirely disproved by now) you have to realize how vast the periods of time we're discussing. The Cretaceous alone was over 79 million years long. That's just the Cretaceous, that's not even counting the Triassic or Jurassic, nor periods like the Permian that predated them. Essentially, it's impossible to compress that much time into anything like a meaningful narrative - too much happened that we don't know, can't know, and will never know.

It puts a birthday in perspective, let me tell you. Anyway. World of Warcraft questions. Let's discuss them.

CaptainCakewalk asks:
Q4tQ: Seeing as there has been a rather enormous amount of mounts in Warlords, I am wondering what is your favourite so far?

A pig. Specifically, this pig. Now if only there was a boarcroc mount in WoW.

MermeiMadness asked:
Opinion Wanted:
I've been a lifetime altaholic. By the end of MoP, I had 10 90s and a 75 on my main server. WoD has introduced a slew of features that makes me not want to level alts, but rather do everything on my main. I retired from modern raiding after LK, so I won't be spending time in raids other than LFR (and even then only sparingly). Is there a distinct advantage to leveling alts with different roles and professions anymore? The only advantage I can see is more chances per week to get rare drops from old raids.

In my opinion, you'd have the distinct advantage (if you have the time to level and play them all) of being able to pick and choose between characters, and the distinct disadvantage of having to do all that work. If nothing else, you can generate resources faster with all of your characters having a mine and herb garden, right?

jpec07 asked:
Is anyone else having trouble with the random re-enchant items? I used a bunch on a ring last night, and most of them didn't actually re-itemize the ring.

RNG at its most painful. I've had friends use it and get the exact same stats (one friend got Multistrike and Versatility four times) with different amounts. It's exactly as random as crafting something six or seven times would be.

RyanKomisarz asked:
Q4TQ: So maybe I missed it along the way -- (and I'm assuming non-spoiler considering it's the first start zone for Horde) but Thrall and Draka talk in Frostfire about Aggra not being there to support Thrall and that she should be there 'cuz Family Matters. But then we see her in Nagrand helping out -- I thought the Dark Portal was destroyed cutting them off from the rest of Azeroth -- how'd she get over there if she was back home?

How did you get your Garrison? Khadgar opened a portal back to Azeroth, right? So clearly smaller, single use portals still work, and Aggra could have used one to get to Draenor. (Note - it's never actually explained to my knowledge how she got there.)

So my question got answered but my name got spelled wrong ;(

Sorry. Hopefully I got it right today.

BapoThe-Paladin asked:
So question. Is anyone able to transmog their weapon to look like Admiral Taylor's Greatsword? I've tried both a green version, and the blue version no luck. I have submitted a bug for it as well.

You cannot transmog that weapon. This is deliberate to prevent Horde from transmogging to it. I do not like this decision and I hope it's reversed - I saved that weapon hoping to use it in transmog. To my eyes, the right solution would have been not letting the Horde have any of the Admiral Taylor weapons if you didn't want them to use it for transmog.

I'd talk more about crocodiles and my birthday but y'all would be bored. Have a safe and happy weekend, everyone.
