Growing Up Geek

Hello there my fellow geekoids,

This is such an exciting opportunity, to be able to not only share my own opinions, but to also be able to read all of yours as well. We all have our own stories on how we have grown into the world of geekdom, and I can't wait to read all of yours, but allow me to share mine as well.

I have always been a huge fan of all things geek, and I'm pretty sure I came out of the womb that way. But my first true memories of being a geek come from the science classes of my early school years. There was something I found magical in the world of science, as it was able to explain our universe and everything in it. How amazing I thought, that we can study and understand our world and beyond using things like the scientific method. As technology advanced around us, it allowed us to understand more and more of our surroundings.

The more I learned about science, and technology, the more I fell in love with it all. I seeped my life in all things geek, wanting to immerse myself in it all. I became passionate about not only the real world of science, but also the fictional versions of it as well. Books like Jurassic Park sparked my curiousity into the world of genetics, and Star Wars made me wish for adventures amongst the stars. My family supported my love for science, getting me my first chemistry set on my tenth birthday, and my first lightsaber as well.

The world of geek holds a special place in my heart, as the world of science is both a way of life, and an escape to fantasy when needed. Once again, thank you again for the opportunity to continue my life of geekdom, and to enjoy everyone else's company as well!
