What do your app shortcuts say about you?

App shortcuts say a lot about someone. On Android, they are a choice. For about two years, I was that guy in a mobile network retail store who fixed phones. I have seen a lot of Android phones going back to the UK daddy, the HTC Desire.
So what do your app shortcuts say about you? If you have a pile of them that have no discernible order, they are probably chronologically added as you installed them. Thanks default Play Store settings. You're either lazy or don't know how to turn that option off. If I'm fixing your phone or giving you advice, that gives me a good gauge on what information will be useful to you and how to present it. If they're in folders but still all on your homescreen, you're not lazy. Useful to know.
If you look at my homescreen, you'll see a New York clock and a Luanda clock. (It would be great if that widget stopped switching over from LA in my pocket...) That's so I know roughly what time it is over the water because I live on the internet but from the UK. You'll also see a custom settings bar, Wi-Fi hotspot, USB tether, mute media volume and a play/pause button.
Do you want to know my app addiction? Hit that custom play button. That play button is configured to work for one media app only. Anyone with a Galaxy device will understand why because standard mathematics is not capable of calculating how many times I've ended up listening to "Over the Horizon" because my phone appears to be incapable of remembering what app I was using 17 seconds ago.
The media app itself? BeyondPod

I love podcasts. Without podcasts, my commute is just time down the drain. I listen to a variety of them and the app I have is bloody brilliant. BeyondPod, take a bow. I tried this for less than ten minutes before buying the full version. Since then (2011-2012ish) it has changed radically in the way it presents my content and always for the better. There is a fantastic browse feature that has yet to fail me when I'm looking for something specific. I can change the speed it plays at. I can configure so many subscription update settings that I almost wish I had a capped data plan. Simply put, I'm in Fatal Attraction level love with this app.
My name's Eoin and I'm an alcoholic. At least if alcoholic means I'll load up BeyondPod for just 3 and a half minutes while I'm brushing my teeth. The best thing about BeyondPod? Listening to podcasts before I go to sleep means I have to play Drop 7...
