The Cell Phone
A cell phone is an invaluable device with or without electricity. Cell phones are everywhere. In this hustle and bustle world, cell phones have become an extremely vital part of everyday life. They keep schedules, appointments, and communication all in a fancy, electronic, box. Without access to electricity, the average cell phone is still an extremely invaluable device to possess.
The touch screen on your everyday smartphone can serve a couple of purposes. It can be used as a location device by reflecting the Sun's rays long range for others to see. In an apocalyptic situation, this may not be the best usage, but it works well for simple survival skills.
Carefully broken and tethered to a strong stick, the screen of a cell phone (or tablet) makes a sufficient, short-term cutting device. Meanwhile, the wires inside the cell phone can be used as fishing line. Use it to catch the fish from a nearby river or stream, and feast!
Lastly, the wires and the motherboard from the internal workings of the common cell phone can be vital to survival.
