Once you click on them all they do is redirect you from the host page to other beta pages or payment or even survey pages. It may be annoying but it is targeting very nerve of the viewers and driving them towards other websites.

Seeing this as a source of business there are many website that are into developing catchy ads in order to help website owners to attract more traffic. These websites include one's like "traffic junk" or bait generator. Even a person well aware could be deceived by these ads as it is hardly possible to differentiate between a real one and a fake one. While one leads to the actual website, other is just a part of scam. Catchy statements like "an apple everyday may not keep doctors away". Well anyone would like to check out if it is any sort of new discovery or story regarding apples. But in actual it may be something like too many apples may affect your health in a bad way or apples grown with chemicals are no longer safe.

So by concealing the true news and generating catchy headlines, these website are doing nothing less than piracy or phishing. Concerned by these things, there are precautions in place like ad blockers or content filtering in order to ensure user privacy and security because sometimes these ads also contains malware and Trojans which may invade individual privacy. With these resort in place, over a statistical figure, there has been a huge fall in these ads and user are becoming more and more careful hence doing safe and secure browsing.

So, next time when you see a headline you can't believe, assume it's a clickbait. Well it doesn't apply every time either. If you're seeing news from Facebook, well don't worry.
