  • Azzief caught the computer bug early on, with some of his most vivid childhood memories involving being scared to bits by first-person shooters like "Wolfenstein 3D" and "Doom." He's been an avid gamer ever since, with a particular love for boomer shooters and wordy RPGs.
  • He has decades of experience building and maintaining gaming rigs and obsessing over human interface devices, including mechanical keyboards and gaming mice.
  • Azzief's other main love is music, and he's amassed a collection of vinyl records and CDs spanning everything from free jazz to ambient via industrial music and extreme metal. He also maintains an interest in hi-fi equipment and the many intersections of computers and music.

Experience

Azzief has been writing and editing professionally since 2013, primarily in the fields of popular music and technology (and, occasionally, the intersections of both). He started at Malaysian publications such as Hongkiat.com, JUICE Malaysia, and The Wknd before going international in 2020. Since then, he's contributed reviews, interviews, and features to NME Asia, Voltcave, and MyNextTablet, among others. While he caught the PC bug from his techie father, colleagues at his first full-time writing job in 2013 really set him on his current hardware-obsessed path by introducing him to the wonderful world of mechanical keyboards and high-performance gaming mice — and he hasn't looked back since.

Education

Azzief has a master's degree in communication from the Science University of Malaysia and a bachelor's degree in English from UNIRAZAK.
