    Dropbox is taking suggestions on new features, vote for resource fork support!

    Dropbox, one of my current top 5 favorite apps, has opened voting for their features roadmap. Some neat suggestions so far, but the most cryptic of the top 5 is among the most useful for Mac users: resource fork support! For those less technical among us, the resource fork is metadata attached to a file that helps Mac OS better understand a file. Things like custom icons, folder info, spotlight comments, openmeta tags, and even file type are defined here. This is how Mac OS can do extension-less file names. This resource fork information is stripped in many backup applications (including Dropbox). Go vote this feature request up (sign-in required) so we can all rejoice! Here's the top 5 requests at time of writing: Selective sync. Ability to choose which files or folders get sync'd to which computers. Watch any folder. Sync folders outside the My/Dropbox folder Share folders without forcing other members to lose space. Email files to Dropbox. Mac resource fork support

    What the 27" iMac means for a designer

    We asked our colleague over at Download Squad, Matt Heerema, for a designer's eye view on the new iMac 27" model. Designers everywhere will rejoice at the announcement of the 27" iMac. With a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, you are just 160 pixels shy of a full, pricey 30" monitor (2560 x 1600). My current design setup (17" MBP, 24" Cinema display) nets me two 1920 x 1200 screens, though only one of them is really useful at a time. My current Photoshop or Fireworks workspace occupies about 1500px of screen (with however much height is available at the moment). The 27" iMac means I would have a spare 1000px to have a browser with a full-width Web page open for reference, or possibly my coding environment (usually Textmate or Coda), for which 1000px would definitely be sufficient. This side-by-side workspace would mean massively efficient flow. Combine that with the intense specs of the iMac (quad-core processor & boatloads of RAM, anyone?), and you have the ultimate designer machine. Also: The 27" will handle DisplayPort input as well as output, allowing it to double as an external display for yet another computer, in a pinch. Now, where did I put my credit card?

    World of Warcraft 60-70 leveling to get faster in Lich King

    Alongside the obvious insta-leveling of Death Knight characters, a post to the World of Warcraft forums by lead designer Jeff Kaplan has confirmed that leveling between levels 60 and 70 will get faster after Wrath of the Lich King is released. Eurogamer has the story, after players moving through the outlands as newly-minted Knights noticed they were gaining ground more quickly than they had on their live server characters. Posting as Tigole, the designer said the team is still working on tweaking the xp gain just so. Player feedback is always appreciated, said the design head.
