LG at CES 2026: Live updates from the company's 'World Premiere' event
The Korean electronics giant will showcase new TVs and plenty of AI-powered products when it kicks off press day in Las Vegas.
LG
While arch-rival Samsung got the jump on its fellow Korean rival by giving its CES presentation last night, LG will be hitting the podium at breakfast time with the theme "Innovation in Tune with You." And you can watch it unfold in real-time right here, and read our liveblog analysis, too.
As with many tech-focused events nowadays, AI is expected to serve as the unifying thread of LG's CES 2026 presentation. That said, LG — much like Apple — has its own take on the acronym, referring to it as "Affectionate Intelligence." The company will share "its vision for elevating daily life through Affectionate Intelligence — delivering harmonized and seamlessly connected customer experiences." The irony, though, is that LG has already shown its cards, thanks to a long string of pre-show press releases offering details about a litany of new products (see below).
How to watch LG's CES 2026 presentation
The event is streaming live from Las Vegas on Monday, January 5 at 11AM ET. You've got a few options for tuning in — watch the livestream on the LG website, the LG Global X channel or the LG Global YouTube channel (embedded below).
Engadget is in the room liveblogging the presser as well.
85 Updates
-
Cloid is closing out the LG World Premiere event.
-
And that's it. We're off to schedule our in-person meet-up with Cloid. Catch our other liveblogs later today.
-
"The future we shared today is one where technology quietly supports people in meaningful ways," Cloid says. "With LG's approach to AI in Action, everyday life becomes better, more meaningful and more human."
It's... uh, interesting to hear about how AI will make like "more human" from a robot.
-
Cloid is back on stage with water.
-
It could tell he was sounding parched. How helpful!
-
And an awkward fist bump.
-
Hey, Cloid is back and offering a bottle of water to our presenter!
-
We're now on HVAC solutions and data centers.
-
We're getting a pretty deep dive on industrial cooling here. Sadly.
-
The windshield augments reality.
-
There's also AI solutions for HVAC. And, of course, they'll be used to cool AI data centers.
-
They're showing some wild augmented reality windshield that takes over if you're in autonomous driving mode and basically throws a fancy screensaver over your view. Seems safe! Again, this is far from being a reality so I'm not actually worrying about this coming to a car any time soon.
-
The windows even have real-time translation.
-
LG isn't saying it's going to make a car like Sony has. So it will rely on automakers to adopt all of this if it has any hope of making it to the masses.
-
Looks like passengers will be able to watch TV on their windows.
-
We've now moved on to AI in the car.
-
LG's AI is going to turn your vehicle in a "personal space" that "knows you." The so-called Experience Architect uses a multimodal generative AI platform, which covers gaze-tracking systems, seamless home-to-vehicle entertainment and adaptive displays.
-
OK, we're on to seeing some futuristic car demos now.
-
We're moving on to cars now. Looks like LG has plans for AI and vehicles.
-
LG's partnerships with big tech companies.
-
Billy said it all really. We're going to see updates to this vision every year, but it's only going to crawl towards reality. I'll be surprised if this is a thing you can buy in the next 3 years.
-
Cloid was just demoted to prototype. Which means the robot isn't coming to market any time soon. See you in Vegas next year, bud!
-
This commitment to updates and proactive detection of appliance issues is something Samsung also discussed last night.
-
Instead, we're getting more highfalutin claims about this zero-labor home vision.
-
The robot took a towel from the executive, put it in the washer and then talked. I don't think the washer actually started, so the demo didn't really offer a complete picture of the fake scenario.
-
And Cloid just rolled off. I guess we're not getting as much of a demo as I expected.
-
Cloid's voice is a little creepy, not going to lie.
-
Cloid is currently doing laundry.
-
The robot even speaks in obtuse marketing platitudes. A truly comprehensive approach.
-
Cloid is on stage!
-
LG's robot can text with its owner to help get things like dinner prepped.
-
Aha, we're hitting my favorite CES presentation: the fake home where everything works seamlessly together thanks to AI and robots.
-
Cloid is basically running the household, and he jacked up the heat in the house to 79 degrees F. That feels a bit warm!
-
The Tailored Collection.
-
We're cooking soup in the oven now. The future!
-
Now some corporate suit is on his way home and he's texting the robot, which tells him that he shouldn't go running because of the rain forecast. How about an indoor workout instead?
-
The Iconic Collection.
-
OK, it's robot time! Sizzle video showing the robot noticing you threw your clothes over a couch like a slob and it picked them up. Handy!
-
The Seamless Collection.
-
The new smart refrigerator has a built-in camera and AI, so you can ask questions and get recipe suggestions.
-
There are two OLED displays on either door, and there's a camera inside to keep tabs on supply and recommend recipes. The AI Oven has Gourmet AI that identifies ingredients and recommends from over 80 curated recipes. All of this AI stuff is coming to the LG Signature series first.
-
OK we're talking about an LLM in your fridge. We've lost the plot, humanity.
-
New LG Signature Series in the kitchen.
-
The new fridge offers Conversational AI that understands conversational language and provides customized recommendations. You can ask the appliance how to store meat and it will recommend the ideal zone and chill mode for freshness.
-
The Voice ID helps customize what users see.
-
OK, that's that for the living room entertainment portion of the presentation. On to home appliances! Never forget that CES is a huge show for stuff like refrigerators and other kitchen stuff.
-
There's an AI button on the remote.
-
The Sound Suite sounds pretty cool to me. I'm sure it's going to be super expensive, but I like the idea of an extremely flexible and modular audio system.
-
AI TV is powered by webOS, where you'll get access to both Microsoft Co-pilot and Google Gemini. There's an AI concierge to help with searches for things like sports teams, travel tips and generative AI images.
-
The Alpha 11 AI processor is in the Wallpaper TV.
-
Ah, we did get a mention of LG Sound Suite! There's a quick rundown of that in our initial updates this morning.
-
The new Wallpaper TV is the world's thinnest OLED TV.
-
It also helps that the Zero Connect box is 35 percent smaller. And the Wallpaper TV utilizes Hype Radiant Color Technology for better blacks, improved color and more brightness. There's also a new processor inside.
-
I completely forgot that Billy already saw the Wallpaper. I'll let him fill you in.
-
Devindra and I saw the Wallpaper TV yesterday and it's impressively thin at 9mm. It only has the power cable connected to it as the unit uses LG's wireless connect box for all of the ports. The company has been perfecting that wireless tech for several years now.
-
Wallpaper TV.
-
Yes indeed, the refreshed Wallpaper TV is on display here. From a pure tech perspective, it's super impressive. I haven't seen them in person yet, but a few others at Engadget have and were quite impressed.
-
Seems like TVs are next.
-
Alrighty, the CEO's remarks are finished. Now, I am sure we're going to get the traditional demo of how this all will theoretically work.
-
"We see robots as home-specialized agents. They are designed for the home," the new CEO said.
-
I'll be honest, describing Cloid as a "home-specialized agent," and not a robot assistant, is pretty weird.
-
"As a global leader in home appliances, our deep understanding of customer lifestyles is a powerful advantage," said Lyu. He continued that LG's ambition is "to set a new standard for future home life through a variety of solutions, including robots."
-
As we often see at CES, the vision here is a connected life across everywhere you are, everything you use that can all talk to each other and know your routines, needs and specific daily circumstances. But we've never actually seen this come together in reality
-
The company just showed a video about "Zero Labor Home," where personal life remains a focus over chores.
-
This video is showing off the concept of a "zero labor home," which quite frankly feels like a godsend and something that is basically impossible. LG's robot Cloid is at the center of it.
-
Is it just me, or is that robot's posture... odd?
-
OK, more sizzle videos showing appliances totally biffing it — ovens overcooking your food, a robot vacuum spreading a frankly disgusting mess all over the floor.
-
In case you were curious, Lyu Jae-cheol is very new to the CEO position. He took over LG on December 1 of last year.
-
New CEO of LG Electronics Lyu Jae-cheol is on stage now.
-
"What if AI could step out of the screen and start working for us in real life?" CEO Lyu Jae-cheol asked. Lyu is explaining how LG's approach to "AI in Action" is built on three pillars:
-
Excellence in device rooted in core technologies
-
A seamlessly connected ecosystem
-
Expansion of AI-driven solutions beyond the home
-
-
"When innovation is in tune with you, life's good." And now... we're seeing some weird creepy facial scan stuff on LG's CEO? Ah, he's talking to the new robot Cloid that the company announced.
-
It's a pushback on the whole "technology is taking over our lives" vibe. Which I can agree with! But I don't know if what we're seeing is going to help.
-
The LG CES 2026 press conference is live!
-
OK, starting with a sizzle real telling us how "the future is human."
-
Alright, Billy and I have had our coffee and are almost ready for this thing to kick off. Should we take bets on how many times "AI" is said?
-
Something I don't expect to see this morning is LG's Sound Suite. It's the home theater system that includes the first soundbar equipped with Dolby's Atmos FlexConnect technology. Essentially, you can place speakers anywhere and the system automatically adjusts, even if they're various distances from the TV. I'll have a hands-on with Sound Suite later today.
-
We will, however, almost certainly hear about LG's latest TVs including the wild Wallpaper TV that is about 9mm thick. We saw it last night, and it is a true stunner.
-
We also saw LG's new "Aerominum" laptop that feels like a major step forward in build quality for a super-thin laptop. But they're not going to be talking PCs at this event, if history is any guide.
-
It's technically the second liveblog, Nathan. I only say that because of the insane crowd I battled at Samsung First Look last night.
-
Cherlynn made the note earlier that we're not fans of LG's press conferences — that's a little harsh! But they're tough sometimes, particularly when it's AI stuff that doesn't feel particularly applicable to real life. That said, they already have made some announcements that are more fun than usual here. Particularly this laundry-folding robot! I don't expect this to end up in a lot of people's homes, but you never know.
-
Good morning friends and welcome to the first liveblog of CES!
-
Before I leave you in their good hands, I just wanted to make sure you had a link to our article on how to watch LG's CES2026 press conference . It has an embed of LG's stream, as well as a link to it, but more importantly, it covers all the news LG has already shared and what else we expect might be coming.
-
Anyway, this liveblog will be brought to you by the dynamic duo of deputy editors Billy Steele and Nate "Natty" Ingraham. I'll let them fight over who gets to do or say what.
-
We're not too fond of LG's CES press conferences here at Engadget, but I must confess I don't know why. Maybe it's the fact that in the last few years they've been more about AI than interesting gadgets and appliances? But this year might be different. LG's announcements have already piqued my interest. That laundry-folding robot, for instance, or the CLOiD humanoid robot.
-
Hello everyone and welcome to our liveblog of LG's press conference here at CES 2026. Typically, this is the first major press conference each CES, but this time, LG was beaten to the punch by Samsung, which had a First Look event last night. Honestly, it was more like a few hours ago. It's been a long few days for our team, many of whom are here in Las Vegas covering the convention.
What to expect
Here's what LG has already confirmed it will be showcasing at CES 2026:
-
LG will debut its first Micro RGB TV, a display with a cutting-edge screen technology with multicolor backlights that should one-up mini LED displays. The size options are 100 inches, 86 inches and 75 inches.
-
The company is countering Samsung's Frame TVs with its new LG Gallery TV, arriving in 55- and 65-inch screen sizes.
-
Look for a new LG humanoid home automation robot named CLOiD to take the stage — and maybe give us a demo of folding laundry (yes, really).
-
In the audio realm, the Korean multinational will also introduce a Dolby-powered modular home audio system and a new line of its xboom speakers (developed with musician will.i.am).
-
LG is revamping its ultralight Gram laptop line with a proprietary material it calls Aerominum. Our own Devindra Hardawar got an early look at the new LG laptops, and was impressed: "[I]t seems LG has found a balance between building a super-light notebook (the 16-inch Gram Pro weighs just 2.6 pounds), and crafting something that actually feels durable."
Does that leave any surprises for the CES press conference? We'll find out soon.
