Hop-on's HOP1884 thin cellphone
US-based Hop-on Inc, no strangers to the low-end cellphone market, have an ultra-slim HOP1884 cellphone on offer just like the uh, big boys. Their 10-mm candybar goes tri-band 900/1800/1900MHz and features a 128 x 64 LCD display, 6-hours talk-time, and uh, well that's about it. No media player lacking storage, no digital camera with plastic lens -- just a slim, lightweight and what should be, low-cost device for making phone calls. What an idea.[Via MobileWhack]

This company's really weird. They come out w/ lots of phones & some are fairly good looking, but I've never seen one in person nor available to purchase online. The one link off their site takes you to a company that isn't even up & running yet (at least their website says as much). I wouldn't be surprised if the company's owner cruises around town in an Enzo... oh, wait that's old hat to them- their CEO got arrested in 2003 for fraud (he left the company 2 weeks later).
#1 Thanks for saving me the time of posting the same questions! Has anyone ever used one of their phones? I remember getting excited many years ago after reading about their disposable phone / airware? in The Journal; did it ever exist?
