It's a rough world out there, and no one should be without 3G nowadays -- especially not anyone whose job requires them to carry a
Panasonic CF-18, one of their iron-clad
ToughBook class laptops strong enough to take a bullet (ok,
maybe not really). Looks like Panny landed a deal with Cingular to incorporate HSDPA into the CF-18 by way of a Novatel Wireless Expedite EU730 UMTS / HSDPA card, presumably a Mini PCI add-on. Nope, it's not the
first shot the ToughBook has had at having 3G in its lifetime -- and we assume it won't be the last -- but this does add Panasonic to the
short list of
HSDPA laptop makers, as well as to the growing list of companies offering help in the way of laptop-internal 3G while remaining relatively (though never entirely) carrier agnostic.

Panasonic rolls Cingular HSDPA for ToughBook CF-18
Rolls? What does that mean? Why do blogs have to use words that nobody understands in their headlines?
Androo
"rolls", "creamy goodness", "rocks", "get your ________ on" are all hallmarks of the engadget editorial staff's writing.
The hilarious out-of-context use of hip-hop culture slang applied to nerdy gadgets are THE hallmark of the blog, setting it apart from other mundane blogs that report on the same subject matter.
I would point you to the urban dictionary, should you need a resource for interpretation:

Show engadget some luv!
As in, Panasonic rolls an herb cigarette for Toughbook CF-18. It's vernacular.
'Rolls' is just the closet pothead in Ryan coming out again.
No biggie.
The picture attached to this post appears to be the CF-29. Not the CF-18.
When is this mythical Cingular HSDPA network finally going to be available to us phone punters? I want some broadband tethering action already!
Actually, willyjsimmons, I've never done any drugs. I really am a freakin' nerd.
