Sony's Vaio UX90 gets 16GB flash drive and mobile TV
So you thought Sony's VAIO U with Core Solo was pretty hot, right, but that hefty chub and feedback-free keyboard were keeping you on the fence? We understand. Well, how would you feel if Sony aced the hard disk in favor of a silent running 16GB solid-state flash drive which bumps battery life by 13%, drops the weight by 29g to 492g, massively accelerates app launches, and should cut XP's resume and boot times by half? No, not doing it for ya? Then how about some hot OneSeg mobile digital television squeezed in for some on-the-go entertainment? Well Sony did just that today with the introduction of their Vaio UX90. Still, you'll have to be ready to pop for the ¥209,800 (about $1,800) when these drop July 3rd in Japan. But if you lived in Nippon, you might just bite, eh? Thought so.

yeah, looks cool.
This is Sony's only decent new product
This thing seems like it's smoking. It has everything but the kitchen sink. finger print reader? camera? what is it missing? besides built in GPS reciever (but you could just get a bluetooth gps receiver).
Any idea, if the screen of the Sony Vaio UX Series is reflective? Otherwise it is not useable in direct sunlight.
What's it missing? How about a screen at a size that the average person can see without squinting like a cross-eyed Chihuahua.
someone hurry and shimmy OSX onto that beast.
James: why ruin it? ;)
I took a look at one of these at the store, and the screen isn't really that bad. You hold this pretty close to you when you use it, much close than a laptop, so it is marginally usable. But what really sucks about this is the keyboard. It's not usable at all. My thumb can't make out the keys...
Sorry but that 1,800 is gonna go to my MacBook amd moniter
maybe for 1,200- but thats still to much
WOW! 1.8k Large! You mean I can get 3 PS3’s for the price of one of these things?
Answer, Heck yes!! Suxs for Sony but good for us that the PS3 is soooo under priced!
Woops, I know, I know. Ixnay on the icepray ;^)...
Interesting product, but a bit expensive
For 1800 dollars, show me another product on the market with the same usability and portibility. Adding a flash drive just made this device a better deal than it already was for the people that use this kind of thing.
Sony has always been a high end electronics company. Now you are getting a first to massmarket product, very usuable (for all but the big handed), jammed packed with features, cheaper than the only competitors (OQO?)
Nothing Compares. If you can find something, show me. Hell, at this point, I'll even take a press release of a future product. Sony is going in a great direction with products like this.
I like the design!
Can the T.V tuner on the UX90 work in the UK? and is the Keyboard really uncomforteble?
