Bluetooth Mighty Mouse already available
Well now we know why Apple "forgot" to file for ye olde confidentiality agreement on the Bluetooth Mighty Mouse FCC filing: they were planning on releasing the wireless rodent into the wild just hours after the documents went live. That's right, if you're looking to cut the cord and add some sweet laser-guided precision to your first-gen Mighty Mouse, you can pick up one of these models immediately for $69 (compared to $49 for the wired version). About the only new bit of information revealed on the official product page is the fact that this mouse will operate with either two or just one AA batteries -- you know, for those times when you're looking to shave every conceivable gram off of your travel weight. As much as we love Apple products, the Mighty Mouse has just never been all that comfortable to use; Bluetooth and laser-tracking are certainly nice additions, but until they make these things more ergonomic, we're holding on to our Logitech gear.

"but at the same time, when i use a might mouse at work, truth be told, it's 100% as comfortable and productive once i get my mind off it. any discomfort is totally psychosomatic."
Right, whatever you say. Its the perfect mouse and we fools just dont realize what we are missing from this piece of Apple perfection.
(((((((Its all in your head. Apple is God. This mouse is perfect. Jobs is your lord.)))))
Dude, the mouse sucks.
Billd, 10 bucks says you've never used the mightymouse but want to trash it anyway.
the blatant fanboyism going on is no worse than your blatant anti-fanboism. get over it.
the fact remains, at home i use my logitech and it's fine. at work i use the mightymouse and it's fine.
you turning it into a "pro apple" thing is just... er, stupid. so why dont you go post about this on your "i h8 apple cuz tey sux!" blog and stop acting like a child.
(while you're at it, read a book. look into the science of mouse ergonomics. learn something.)
"Billd, 10 bucks says you've never used the mightymouse but want to trash it anyway."
You lose. I used the thing at an Apple store right after they released it. It was awkward to use and none of the buttons are in convient places. Its a over designed failure, even most Apple users are lukewarm to it.
10 bucks say that if this mouse was in the shape of a pyramyd, you would still say it was the best mouse you've ever used as long as that Apple logo was nice and visible.
I like how Apple is supposed to be all about ease-of-use and "intuitiveness", yet anytime anyone complains about the mighty mouse, the fanboys are quick to claim they're using it wrong.
If you have to retrain yourself to use the mighty mouse, then it's not easy to use, not well designed, and not intuitive.
It's a pretty nice mouse, but I can't stand anything other than a trackball mouse.
If you don't like it, don't use it and shut the f*** up. If you do like it, use it and shut the f*** up.
Thanks,
Steve Jobs
Fannyboy is dead right. I'm a big guy with massive hands, but I loved the hockey puck and I love the MM. I hold the mice with my fingers placed around the edge, not pushing it about with my palm. I tried a MS wireless a few years back, having it that huge & contoured makde you *have* to cover it with your palm...next thing you know, sweaty palms! The sideways scroll is the best thig ever in Pro-Tools as well.
billd, what do you mean by "you people"? Are you implying that since Preston Shearer is (presumably) a Mac user as he likes the Mighty Mouse, that he therefore knocks the Zune?
Do you like placing people into little boxes and judging them all by the label on that box? That's a very sad way of going through life.
I HATE my wireless Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer. The piece of doo-doo runs out of batteries fast, so I am constantly replacing them, it's heavy, picks up dirt easily, and now the RF range isn't as good as it was when I first got it... I practically have to me next to the receiver for it to work. MICROSOFT MICE SUCK! Who wants to buy mine off me?? I would GLADLY trade this for a wired or BT mouse anytime. Apple makes nice mice... ergonomics my ar$e... Apple's ergo is better than anything else (cept those hockey-puck mice). The Apple mouse weighs very little and my wired Apple Pro mouse is more precise than this crappy M$$$ Intellimouse Explorer.
Now all I need to know is -- How sensitive IS the BT Mighty mouse? Because I've heard that ALL wireless mice... BT, RF or IR, are subject to either 'sleeping' on the job (which btw, my Micro$$$ mouse does this A LOT!) or being sluggish or jumpy, especially with games. I also wanna know whether this BT Mighty mouse will respond to very subtle movements when I'm designing something pixel-precisely in Photoshop and Illustrator... thats where wired mice have always been the most reliable.
