The video game stork came by our place today and blessed us with an oh so long awaited

Just out of curiosity, what is so different about the debug unit (apart form it running unsigned code)?
It amuses me for some reason, that the word "test" on the console is also in "Spiderman" font =P
I can't wait to get one, but it's a shame that I live in the UK, so I'm going to have to wait until March!
If you could get any more videos on the hardware/GUI aspect, that would be great (I'm not the type who loves watching game play, you need to be there yourself to watch the true quality)
Does anyone else think sony "borrowed heavily" from the Bose Lifestyle media center design? At least the 360 and the Wii are somewhat unique...
This generation of consoles is getting harder and harder to take, honestly all three look like very attractive buys right now. I am getting the Wii this november, but making the decision to buy a 360/PS3 might just come in late 2007/early 2008.

That thing is massively ugly, although the slot loading drive is pretty awesome.

yeah man, if i do go camp out and get one at launch, im defently selling it on ebay. You would sell it for a minimum price of 1500 for each one, quite a few will get to 2000-2500. If I get one at launch, new big screen tv-here I come=)

I just got home from a weekend in Tokyo & Playstation 3 demo kiosks are already in the game stores there. What I was astonished to find is that on a Saturday morning at one of the busiest electronic stores in Shibuya - not a single person was playing with it!!
The kiosks are preloaded with about 20 game videos and 3 playable games. However, though you can scroll through quite a large section of the GUI, any entries to system changes/configurations/video output or language selections were all locked.
The games looked OK but the driving game I tried felt awkawrd & the car behaved extremely sluggishly - undoubtably mostly down to my crappy efforts but it certainly wasn't easy to pick up & play! Visuals were astonishingly good but is a polished turd any better than a regular one??
damn that thing got loud when the disc was put in.

Can you connect PS3 to a Dell 2407WFP LCD monitor thro a DVI-HDMI converter ?
I really want to buy a Dell 2407 but still worry about if PS3 screen could be displayed normally or NOT (thro DVI-input).

Yes you can get a DVI to HDMI cable. You will need to use the composite cable for audio. The Dell monitor's DVI input cant do audio. As long as your speaker system can do the ps3s audio capabilities then your fine. I hope this helps.

you can get hdmi to dvi cables for less than 10 US dollars at monoprice.com
if you have digital optical cable, run that to your reciever....
if i get the ps3, haven't played much games in like half a year, i'm connecting it to my dell 20" widescreen via hdmi to dvi that i already have connected to my hdtv ota tuner.
i'll need to get a dvi Y-cable to display the 2 sources (hope that works cause them dvi switchboxes cost more than 2 ps2's).

A 2 port HDMI switcher at monoprice.com costs around 80 USD. I still want one with that Sceptre X20-SV naga. Of course I want an HDMI switcher to have HD Digital Cable and PS3 hooked up. Yes its pricey but the games look sweet. I think its quite sexy.

does this system work on non hdtv tv's? if so do you need any other wireing to make it work or does it work out of the box?

I've had an Xbox 360 (which i sold), a Wii (which i will sell), and a PlayStation3 (which i am definitely not selling - so no offers). The 360 made one hell of a racket, but the Wii and PS3 are both near silent. You can do so much more with the PS3 than you can with it's competitors. This is both down to the huge XMB and PlayStation Store. I used the 360 to store some CDs and the Wii to play the odd game but the PlayStation3 is my media center - as it should be. Anyone hesitating to buy one shouldn't be, it's a great system.
Hi you guys, can you please tell me if there's an way to change the Region Code settings, I bought PS3 in Singapore but can't play DVD in Aussi.
I contacted Sony Support, that was a waste of time, end result was they say region code cannot be changed.
