From what I hear, the Wireless headset syncs directly to the 360 through radio waves and doesn't connect to the controller at all. That leaves the slot open for additional peripherals.
Ah, neato. Guess they've got it all covered then. I'm not sure I need a headset at all, though.... So far I haven't heard anyone on Xbox Live that's worth listening/talking to. Which is not to say there aren't any, but the majority of them seem to be drunk, stupid, or both.
